I picked this game up on the cheap and have been playing and enjoying it thoroughly. One of the best N64 games I've played. However something's going to drive me nuts if I can't get an answer.
In the game when you finish a page, the Yoshi's sing a little song - for the life of me I can't figure out what they're saying - Anyone know?

They are saying 'We've got your soul, we've got your soul. Lock your doors, were coming to killllllllll you"
Anyways...It is a great game.

Great. Now I have the opening theme stuck in my head. The scary part is that I can do a nearly flawless vocal rendition of the tune despite the fact that my speaking voice is very deep.
I seriously have no idea what the Yoshis say after you beat a level. I don't think it's actually English. It sounds like "Eee Ahhh Ohhh" if I recall correctly (my N64 games were stolen) but my friends and I had many interpretations, such as "sweet asshole". Sorry, that's about all I can contribute right about now.
The page turned, and the Yoshis grew happier!

I think there was an entire section in either EGM or Nintendo Power which tried to answer this question. I can't remember any details, but I know the results were still inconclusive. Maybe "Be happy"? "Forever"? Who knows.
I thought it was just gibberish myself.
Game is fun, but REALLY short. Unless you like trying to get every piece of fruit I guess. (I think the things you get are fruit, can't remember for sure.) I remember renting it and beating it after 4 or 5 hours. I was glad I didn't pay $50 for that one.

Wubb, my cousin rented the game, and I played and beat it, but I still bought it (well, traded War Gods, which I got for Christmas). I've finished the game many times. It may be easy, but it's ridiculously fun.
I really enjoyed Yoshi's Topsy Turvy at E3 because it played and looked a lot like thid game.

This is one of my wife's favorite games. I disregarded it because of it length and lack of real difficulty, but I have come to really enjoy the game. It is a N classic, and a musthave N64 title. Fun, fun all around.

You mean Yoshi Story?
That was a surprisingly fun game.

It sounds a little bit like "Be Careful"...

I enjoyed it when I rented it, but there's just no way I would have been happy paying $50 for that. Today I imagine it's pretty easy to find for <$10. I could see swinging that. I remember thinking that one was a near perfect rental game. There were quite a few N64 games that I managed to rent and beat over a weekend IIRC. I really don't see how they expected people to pay $50 for such short games.
With the current gen games drop in price so quickly that I don't mind this as much. Yoshi's Story is probably one of the shortest games I've ever played that is not designed to be played entirely in one sitting. (Like many of the old NES games that don't have any way to save.) I don't think I've played an Xbox game that's shorter. Max Payne 2 was awfully short, but I still think it's 5 or 6 hours.

hmmm... I must be the only one who absolutely despised Yoshi's Story... I was expecting more of a Yoshi's Island 2 which is the greatest 2D platformer of all time (especially since YS was 2D - or 2.5D - on a 3D system). I was completely disappointed... Maybe if I gave it another shot I might like it today but I doubt it.

I picked this game up on the cheap and have been playing and enjoying it thoroughly. I'm surprised. I've heard (almost) nothing but bad things about this game..... namely, too repetitive. I've actually avoided buying it, for that reason.
You should check out Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island. Masterpiece.
Also Banjo-Kazooie - Best 3D Platformer ever made.

It's not repetitive, but it is easy.

your not alone I hated the one for the N64 it was so freakin ridiculous. The snes version was much better. Me and couple of my friends rented it one day . we all took turns playing it and after about 4 or 5 hours we beat the damn thing.I reallt dont remember why we hated that game maybe because it was to short or maybe because of that GODDAMN HAPPY TREE CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!

There's not much of a challenge and it is a little repetitive but IMO it's done quite well and one of the better games for this console. But don't take my word on it cause I tend to go against the grain a bit and usually don't concur with the general populous on a lot of subjects

I paid $2 for it. I could see many people loathing this game if they had paid real money for it.
