I was a huge fan of Harvest Moon 64 and Back to Nature, and I hear Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life are similar games, so which one should I buy? Any help is appreciated.

Animal Crossing rocks. Harvest moon is kind of boring.

Animal Crossing has little statues that make retarded noises and violently swing about every now and then.

Definitely Animal Crossing. I never got into Harvest Moon for GC; it's pretty slow (at least when you start off). Animal Crossing is pretty easy to get into. And Harvest Moon for GBA is much better thand the Gamecube version.

I thought I saw a thread like this a while ago, and I was right. Here it is in case you want to read more opinions:

Animal Crossing is a game you can go back to every once in a while, years after you initially got it. I know I do.

Animal Crossing is amazing. I borrowed a friend's copy in September and had to buy my own before I could return it. I played for 2 months straight, EVERY day, before moving in November.

Due to having more things to do, internet access again, and buying an Xbox and Live soon after, I haven't played AC since. I'm afraid to get addicted again, and I'm afraid of having to clean up my town after 6 months +. I may just go back, revisit all the holidays, and then resume daily activities from the beginning of June. That way, I can prepare for Animal Crossing 2 and AC DS.

In conclusion... BUY THE GAME!!!

i was gonna say i've asked the same question b4, but someone linked it already
and the answer is animal crossing, if u got a wife or gf or kids, very addicting but i eventually got bored after a month of non stop playing, probably would get addicted again if i went back to it, IMO the concept is so stupid its brilliant, do the same shit everyday with special events and make a nice looking house and island, then spend all ur time collection bugs, catching fish and growing fruit and money

cant wait for the next one that is not on the DS

also if ur willing to leave ur gamecube on, u can just turn the game on and take the disc out and give it back to who u got it from and play from the cubes memory until u turn it off

That's probably the best way to put it. I have both and I love both. However, a new day (literally!) is a new day in Animal Crossing..and that's what made the game so unique. Tomorrow someone might come to town, and you really have to wait until tomorrow..lol It's so awesome! It's when you first start and you celebrate the "holidays" they have..that's what's fun! Yeah they're corny, but still! Actually if you DO get Animal Crossing--GET it soon because Summer is a fun time to play. Lots of fish & bugs to be caught :D

In conclusion: HEART Animal Crossing

I gotta vote for Animal Crossing myself. There's a unique charm at the heart of the game that really pulls you in.

I'd recommend AC as well, I have both and was a Harvest Moon fan since the PS1 and N64 versions. I did enjoy the GBA Friends of Mineral Town more than A Wonderful Life, though I haven't linked the 2 yet to get the extras.

AWL I heard was awful, that they took out all the great things that made HM what it is. There is a nw one, not the "Another Wonderful Life", but a true new game and it looks great! It looks just like AC and HM put together. No US release on it yet through. :(

Played both, I think Animal Crossing is better. It's very addictive. I liked Harvest Moon and all, but I got really, really bored with it after the first chapter or so (after you have a kid). I've played Harvest Moon 64 and for GBC so I knew what to expect.

Everyone I know does. My wife played it till that point and started to literally fall asleep while playing it. Her friend was over here every damn day playing till she got to the point of having a family and she just stopped. Hell, she even informed us that she didn't want the gamecube and AWL we were going to get her for her birthday.

On the upside, AC is fun. Its one though that you should only play in small doses. After a week or so, don't expect to spend hours upon hours on it. I usually check up on my town twice a week now and I've had it for over a year.

I would have to say that Animal Crossing is the better game, however, both are great. If there had been an option to pick both as being equally great, I would have picked it. They are both great games worth owning IMO.

After reading this thread, I decided to pick up Animal Crossing. I found one at Blockbuster new and factory sealed and its the first release, not the players choice edition. Thats what I wanted( I am picky and dont want the greatest hits or player choice versions of any games) so I am happy.

Harvest Moon was really boring, so I definitely liked AC a lot more. I need to get back on AC, as I bet the villagers have been wondering where I've been for the past 6+ months or so. :D

I like both, but have to give the nod to AC. Still pick it up every once in a while to pull weeds and fish!
