I've been playing for hours and hours and I still have to look at the map every 5 seconds to find out where the hell I am. I think this game would be a lot more enjoyable if I knew where I was going... Anyone else have this problem?

same here, though after a few days of just driving around it's not that bad... the only places I get lost is when you're out in the mountains/forest/desert, but knowing where to go around town isn't that bad.

I do now, but at first I was as lost as you. It just takes time, obviously this game will take the most time since it's the biggest of the three.

I know my way around the GTA cities just as well (and maybe sometimes better) as the neighborhoods where I live.

I think of all the nuances of the GTA games, learning the city is the best of them. Lots of missions that help you get the layout of the city memorized.

Time, time, time. It's always like that in the GTA series, and this one is the biggest (and thus worst, as was said). After awhile if you do the plot missions and also just spend some time fiding graffiti tags and taking over territory (once you get to that part) you'll learn your way around.

My copy is still sealed on a shelf... so I have no clue where anything is. :)

How could you say this is the worst? It's easily my favorite, same gameplay, but way more features.

Yep. I like it alot but I kinda digged the Vice City story more then SA but all the new features are great.

I think it's worst as far as the learning curve to know where you are...

They start you in the hardest city to learn, the other two arent very tough. In the country i generally only take 1 highway to go to and fro cities.

Sadly, I do know my way around San Andreas quite well. After 150+ hours of playing I know that place like the back of my hand, even better than I know the streets of the current city which I have lived in for the past 2 years. But in my defense, I'm sure I'd know my way around my own neighborhood better if I was constantly running from the cops and taking detours to avoid police barricades and stuff in real life.

Thats because SA has three cities that are larger than VC AND it has all the land in between... Its harder to kno where you are because the playing field is about 10X bigger.

The worst in terms of learning your way around. It is easily the best in the series IMO. Just adding climbing over walls and swimming made it much more fun, in addition to the other stuff added and the larger size and improved visuals.

Ya know what, I haven't played San Andreas but I'm gonna guess it's like the other two current generation GTAs, but bigger, so...

Just keep playing... if after a month of regular playing, you still get lost, then you prolly have a questionable sense of direction. Since I can get around no problem in GTA3/VC after having put months/years into it... but a friend of mine can't find her way very well after equal playtime. All up to the individual it seems.

Keep at it, and don't worry about it... it'll come, or it won't. Compensate if ya gotta, there's always a way =)

... Hey any one know how close San Andreas is to hitting Greatest Hits? I've wanted the game since it came out, but I'm not willing to pay more than $20 cuz, well, I'm a cheapass =)

Not at all. Of course I picked it up at release and only have a few hours into it.

i know my way around well enough to where i drew my friend a map, who had never played, to get from the san fierro apt to los santos police station, and it was accurate, and i hadnt played the game in 6 months.

I'm sure you'll eventually know your way around. I memorized the important part of Las Santos pretty quick, but I feel like the other two cities are harder to remember. IDK why; I just have a hard time navigating through San Fierro and especially Las Venturas.
