I've heard mostly really good things about this game, and it's under $10 A/C at EB. So I was wondering what others thought of it. How does it compare to other 3D action games like Devil May Cry or God of War? I'm looking to buy games for qaulity over quanitty now, so if there are better games of the same genre (even if they're more expensive) I'd rather wait for those to drop in price. Thoughts?

I really liked it, but its not as good as God of War. Better than Rygar though.

Best in the series by far, and one of the best action games for the PS2 IMHO. Check your local Target, mine has it on clearance for $7.48 right now. It's definitely worth it for that price.

I personally think God of War is overrated...I actually prefer Onimusha, no doubt. I'd say it's one of the best action games on PS2. And while it doesn't make it a better game, I've gotta mention the intro movie. It's one of the best you'll ever see in your life, trust me. You can watch it here (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=2666&type=mov), but it looks much better in the game, as the video is DVD-quality.
You should at least rent Onimusha 3. It's a mighty cool game, and it'd be a shame to miss it, trust me.

It got repetetive and boring for me.

Its a good game. The combat is slower paced than God of War, but that doesn't mean its bad, it is very good. It has really cool unlockables once you beat the game, some clever puzzles. Overall its a good buy for any price, especially for around $15.
I really enjoyed watching the intro sequence for Onimusha 3 over & over again when I first got it. The cinematics throughout the game are better than the two earlier installments--which is to be expected--and the game mechanics play much the same as before. I would say that if you enjoyed playing the first two Onimusha's, you'll probably be very pleased with Onimusha 3.
[edit: I'm afraid I haven't played God of War (or read any reviews for it) so I can't make any comparisons between the two. As for the puzzles in Onimusha 3, I would say that they are on par with Resident Evil puzzles....used as an incentive for map exploration & finding secret areas, rather than brain teasers.]

Actually I never played the first 2. They looked pretty horrible as I can't stand games with RE controls.
How are the puzzles in the game? Are there more or better ones than the so-called "puzzles" of God of War?

Considering you can find it hella cheap a lot of places, do not hesitate to buy it. It is, as has been mentioned, the best game in the series, and a lot of fun. Some excellent boss fights, an interesting, if wacky, story, and just plain solid gameplay.

Well, I really didn't like the story, the voice acting, or Jacques, so I gave up on it. I couldn't get into it, but it does have decent gameplay-- like RE with good action/rpg elements.

**GASP**How can you say that? My opinion: the first is the best but offers less. No nonsense, save the princess and kick demon ass story. The second one was very weird in terms of characters and story. I felt a little let down by it but the gameplay was more interesting with the additional characters.
The third one was kind of lame and boring. I didn't like the time travelling gimmick, which Capcom used to stretch out the length of the game. You would have to do something/find a key in one time period and then use it so that when you switched back to the second character, he could open a door, etc.
Although the intro was cool, the rest of the game wasn't. Samanosuke didn't feel like a badass, Jacque wasn't cool either - stuck with a little kid and an annoying fairy. It seemed like they were trying to make a buddy film/game - I would compare the mood to something like Shanghai Noon but without the humor and personality.
And even though Onimusha 3 has analog control I found myself using the d-pad instead. Maybe I'm mistaken but the analog didn't allow me to dart backwards which would lead to certain death.
imo, onimusha 3 is one of the best games available on the ps2..no doubt about it. It is as good, if not better, than devil may cry.
The first two were not fully 3d and the 2nd one was fairly annoying thanks to the "trade" system. Part 3 is awesome. I would love to see a remake on the ps3, without the jaggies and with progressive scan and in game 5.1...Capcom really got the environments down in this one, especially the areas in France. It's too bad the ps2 is jaggie heaven, because this could've been one of the most visually stunning games.

The game engine itself is pretty solid, unfortunately the game contents were poorly produced. Unlike the first game, where you get to choose the voice track's languge, they dubbed it so Samanosuke speaks English only and so does Jacques, which really takes you out of the game's atmosphere.
The soapy elements Capcom stuffed into the game certainly didn't help either. With Jacques being stuck with a son from a previous marriage and a new girlfriend who the kid doesn't get along with, you'd think Capcom is trying to abandon the series' target audience in favor of the daytime soap audience instead.
But in the end, for 10 bucks or so, you can do far worse with so many bad games out there.

the ending sucked. There are two character stories, one in present france and one in acient japan. Overall, you should get it. Specially when it's under 10 dollar.

Yeah, I think I'll get it in a couple weeks. In another week it'll have been 6 months since I cancelled my reservation rewards free trial, and then I can sign up again and get the $10 voucher (they only keep your record on file for 6 monhts), bringing Onimusha 3 to $5 shipped.
