I was reading the new EGM and there is a small article about a new Tecmo game called Trapt. It says that it is a revival of the Deception series from the PS1. My question is whether this is the game Kagero, but with a new name?
No need to hurry with replies. Respond at your leisure.
Thanks

What exactly are you asking? If the game itself is a remake of the 2nd game in the series? Or if it is based on the 2nd game in the series?

Kagero was a sequel, either part 2 or 3 of Tecmo's Deception series. The new PS2 game should be a sequel instead of a remake.

Kagero was Deception 2. Deception III was Dark Delusion.

Trapt is a new storyline, from what I read. But, it'll have the same kind of gameplay Deception did.

It's supposed to be a brand new game, though a remake of 1-3 all on one disc would be awesome as hell. Those games are the greatest most sadistic things ever. Now I feel like playing them... damnations, I'll settle for Dungeon Keeper since I'm already on the computer. I hope the new one's more demonic like the first, and less to do with a little kid holding a ring, like the third.

Tecmo should release those and a few other last gen games like Monster Rancher and DOA on a disk and they could charge full price, not like that crap-ass compilation they are trying to sell

Hmm...I hadn't heard about Trapt.
I would love to see Deception 1-3 released with a serious graphical upgrade. That was the only thing about the series that held it back from being a huge hit. With all the carnage on screen it would be nice to see every detail of the traps in action.

Official US site on Tecmo for game: http://64.78.9.175/games.asp?id=19
Official JP site: http://www.tecmo.co.jp/product/kagero2/index.htm
Check out the funny TV commercials on the Japanese site! I had no idea this was almost out in Japan (6-30), and it'd be out here in September...! But good God the person who typed up the English site's info could've used some proofreading time...
Anyway, looks like the story/cutscenes will be back in their "so-bad-it's funny" glory, thank goodness for that! I'm really pysched about this game, I've put down "make another Deception game!" on every game registration card I've ever sent to Tecmo...
Oh, and i read on gamefaqs, i think, that some traps were taken out of the US game cause they were too graphic or something? I don't have the issue that mentions this game, is that what it said? Since there's no gore (decapitations, limbs coming off, etc.) in any of the Deception games, I wonder what they could be?...
EDIT: I'm a bit worried about these "Dark Illusion" traps, cause of the cutscenes for them being so long (makes me remember all the summon spells from FF7/8), but they sure do look cool:

A kind person (kintaro22) has put a lot of info on the game on the GameFAQs message board: http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gentopic.php?board=928477
*31/40 Famitsu rating
*Buying traps, not making (I'll wait a bit to be able to confirm this)
*check out all the other info they posted! :D
Finally, a Tecmo game I'm excited about!

I've already got this preordered at GR. Isn't much more I love in gaming than Deception games. The only bad thing I've heard about this is that there are a lot less regular traps and the Dark Illusions are supposed to take their spot. I can't imagine they will have anything close to the same cost or placement ease as normal stuff though. I just got a copy of the first off eBay a month or so ago but have yet to play it. I think it's about time. I can't remember if I have my old rental save still though. Here I come Demoness.
