For some reason, my computer will all of a sudden stop responding, but I can still move the mouse around. I cant close any programs, bring up the task manager, and the only thing i can do is restart my computer manually. What could be the problem?

Repair windows? It sounds like a problem with your OS.

That could be any number of things... be a tad less vague and we'll try again.

Well, there aint much more to describe. Im running windows XP and it usually just freezes up randomly. It isnt a virus, since I keep my definitions up to date and it doesnt ever happen on my laptop. What else do you need me to explain?

Hrm. Honestly, my usual advice is to just back up your important files and install a clean copy of XP. Windows is renowned for eating itself over time.
This is accomplished by booting from your Windows XP CD. :X
If that doesn't work, it could be a hardware problem.
There's unlimited amounts of possibilities.

Try formatting again. I used to format my PC's every month and they were always running like new.
