Hello all,

I live in a neighborhood that does not have any cable lines, so cable internet is out of the question. We've called and requested for lines to be put in, Time Warner (the local cable company) went so far as coming out and flagging where they were going to install the lines, but something happened and they never did anything. It's quite agrivating because on the other side of the overpass they have cable and my road pass under the overpass...it's not very far away at all (one neighbor, then the frontage road/Overpass)

According to DSL Reports (broadbandreports.com now) I live too far away from the CO to get dsl (screen shot below)

Finally i'm not interested in Satellite (DirectWAY) as it's too exspensive and not very good for online gaming, which I like to do, due to high latency...

Even with dial-up, my connection is limited to 28.8. This is due to not having copper phone lines, but having paragain which has better voice clarity than copper lines, but a lower data transfer limit from my understanding.

So are there any other alternatives, or is there anything else I can do in order to get someone to service our area?

Thank you,
vpr

edit: Fixed Type-O in title... :)

ISDN but that's barely better than dial up. Other then that the best thing you can do is keep pestering Time Warner to get that line to you. Good luck fellow CAGer.

I couldnt get DSL where I lived and then one day when there was a deal I called the company and asked and they are all "No, you arent in our service area" i tell them I really want it and I'll just get a differenct company (cable internet which I wouldnt do because cost) and they respond "We'll send someone out in the next 1-2weeks to see what we can do". Some guy comes and does something and right now I am using DSL :)

I don't know who it was, but it sure as hell wasn't BellSouth.

I am using Qwest.

The speeds are pretty good, but of course my dad paid for the cheapest one, but still does everything I want it to.
