First off, are there any good co-op games at all? I love playing with a friend in a campaign, but haven't heard of any of the big GC titles advertising this.
Secondly, how do the saves work? I've seen ppl talking of memory carts... Is there anything included with the launch package that lets you save, or do you have to pick something up right away?
Finally, what CAG's to buy? I'm planning on Metroid Prime and Wind Walker (even if I HATE the art direction that game took), and maybe Resident Evil... What else can I get at the $20 price point?

You need a memory card to save. Just like a PS2 or PSX.

Buy a save card, and as far as co-op goes there's FF: Crystal Chronicles but that games the plague without the cute rats to host it.

Wind Waker is co-op somewhat. You can hook up a GBA and play as Tingle on the GBA at certain times.
Also, get Pikmin..excellent game.

Pikmin 2 is a great coop game.
Also, you'll want to pick up SSBM, Luigi's Mansion, Baten Kaitos, ToS, WW, RE4, MP 1/2, etc.

Four Swords is a really great coop game as well.

Luigi's Mansion is co-op? Wow! That must be amazing considering it's a one player game!
Get the 1069 memory card, i think it's white.
If you wait until August there will be a buddle of the Gamecube with SSBM with it, and more than likely around Christams there will eb some better buddle, most likely dealing with Zelda.

If you buy a Memory Card 1019 you will never have to worry about saving again unless you have a thing for sports games by third parties. Also Ikaruga is co-op. You can find it for twenty bucks too.

No one's mentioned Rogue Squadron: Rebel Strike? Playing through Rogue Leader with a partner is really fun.
Also, there's always the Timesplitters games, but they can be found on all three consoles.

I second rebel strike. Rogue Leader is freakin awesome, and even more fun with a friend

the 16mb nyko card can be had on the cheap and it is just as good as a 1st party
the cube has some of the multiplatfrom co-op games like baldur's gate dark alliance or xmen legends and the lessened loading really helps in this regard
viewtiful joe 1/2, fzero, monkey ball, ikaruga

Don't forget that for Four Swords or FF:CC you'll also need a GBA and link cable for each player.

4 player co-ops that I really enjoyed were hunter the reckoning, x-men legends(15 new@ eb soon) ,and guantlet:dark legacy
Screw four swords because that whole gba-link shit is too much damn trouble for a stupid game
2 player, try baulder's gate
mariokart and smash bros:melee are must haves if u enjoy playing w/ other people

You can go buy a GameCube now/
Target this week has a GC for $97 and it comes with Metriod Prime 2 free.
Much better than the dumbass buddle Nintendo is doing.
Target also has Mario Kart DD for $39 ish, and SSBM for the still outragous price of $28ish.

Eternal Darkness and if youve never played it before give Metal Gear a look
LISTEN TO THIS ADVICE! Eternal Darkness is a great game and can be had for very cheap if you can find it. IGN actually gave it a 9.8! And MGS: Twin Snakes is very good too.
Also, if you do happen to have a GBA and link cable with 3 other people that also have GBA's and link cables, then Four Swords is definitely worth it. I was lucky enough to be able to have more than enough friends with the equipment and it is probably some of the best multiplayer/co-op gaming ever. You'd be amazed how you can go from best buddies with a person to wanting to seriously kill them, then back to buddies again through the levels.
But again, don't pick it up if you don't know others with GBA's and link cables. You need 3-4 people for it to be REALLY fun, with only 2 it's just meh, and it's nothing as a single player game.
I comletely forgot about Rebel Strike's co-op. It's the only part about that sequel that's better than Rogue Leader.

EBGames has Paper Mario : The Thousand Year Door on sale for $20 recently. Not sure the sale has ended or not.

, x-men legends(15 new@ eb soon)
Really?! I love EB, so sad that they merged with the evil GS. :(
I want that game now.
Paper Mario comes and goes still, if you want it try EB in the morning around 10.

I would have to second Timesplitters 2 as a great co-op game. I also suggest that if you buy a memory card to pick up the 1019. Otherwise you will be stuck having to buy another card in the future.

Thanks for the info, guys. I picked up a GC with the MP:Echoes deal at Target today, along with a 1019 memory card @ Best Buy (with a GGC). I'm waiting for the gamestop b2g1free sale next week to hopefully snag Wind Waker, MP, and either Eternal Darkness or Baten Kaitos. A friend is lending me Resident Evil. Now, I just need to make time in my Xbox schedule and my already too large stack of CAG's....
