Note: I call bullshit on this because some of the games on this list got cancelled. Specifically I remember Riqa, at one time Nintendo's answer to Lara Croft/Tomb Raider, was cancelled long ago after a brief showing at trade shows (either E3 and/or Spaceworld). I think some others fall into this category - wasn't "Creator" the supposed N64 Mario Paint that never got finished?

Others seem suspicious as well. Supposedly this is the Japanese list, which would account for Doki Doki Panic, but still....how would that work in the US if this is true? Same goes for Sin and Punishment. I want me some damn Sin and Punishment.

Also of note: Eeee EARTHBOUND.

Famitsu's usually a pretty credible source -- here's hoping this list holds true as there's a lot of games that I'd love to revisit. Unfortunately, I don't think all of these games are going to make it to the US... Animal Forest/Crossing is the biggest stand out to me since they could still make money on the Cube version. The few games that require extra peripherals are interesting, and they may be a clue to the revolutionary aspect of the controls... looks like we'll have to wait and see.

I have no doubt that the big N will release all of its 1st party games. The free part is yet to be seen.

1. Link fixed.

2. The idea of free downloadable content was quoted by some high executive (Harrison?) and has been reported at various sites if I remember correctly. It's all speculation though, you're right.

Nintendo owns the IP for Sin and Punishment, if I remember correctly.

And I highly doubt Final Fantasy shows up in any form. Square isn't done milking that quite yet.

If this is true...I'll buy a Revolution at launch, along with however big of a memory card I need for all of those games. And yes, I would download them all, if at all possible.

1. Thanks for the fixed link.

2. George Harrison said:

Well, we can use it in a variety of ways. We've used some of the older games already as little bonuses, either as bonus gifts or hidden in levels of games. Certainly for the first-party titles we'll be making some of those available. We haven't really talked about whether we would sell them. The third parties can make their own decision whether they want to sell them, or maybe they will add it on as sort of a free benefit when you buy a current version of the game.

The free part is up in the air. At this point it seems more like if you buy the new Mario game you will get SMB for free he does not state that the will be free or if it will be bonus gifts like in AC and a few other GCN games. Every thing is game at this point.

I hope they will be free but anything is game at this point of time. We will just have to wait and see how this evolves.

List is Fake

Nintendo would never, ever re-release Mike Tyson Punch-Out again. Especially considering they have Punch-Out listed as well, and its basically the same game. Also, doubt that Final Fantasy would be included because Square re-acquired the rights to the game a few years ago for thier collections.

Looks like just a imcomplete list of Nintendo 1st party games

Here is a list of 221 Nintendo PUBLISHED games that may be available for FREE on Revolution:

The list is pretty meaningless.

Nintendo = Free Stuff? Um...yeah...

Nintendo doesnt even give out free demos, much less free roms for the revelution.

Be prepared to pay 4.99 or more for them.

Remember the Gameboy "Classics" collection....how many of you thought that they were worth the $19.99 they were asking for?

Grave_Addiction

We all know Nintendo won't just give away these games for free. That's insane. They would be shooting themselves in the foot.

I've said this several times, but I'll repeat it anyway. Something that would far and away be better than pay per download would be a subscription-based service that let you download a certain of games per month.

This is another idea I thought of.

What if Nintendo would give you a certain number of games to download for every Revo game you buy? Say you buy a new Revo game and you can download 5 NES games, 4 SNES games, or 3 N64 games. That would be a very clever way for Nintendo to also boost third-party sales, too.

Whoever made this list is a freaking moron. All he did was go to IGN, and did a search for games with "Nintendo" listed as the developer. This list is full of stuff that doesn't make sense.

A few key examples:
Sound Fantasy - Vaporware! This never came out.
FX Fighter - Vaporware.
Final Fantasy - Nintendo doesn't have the rights.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - They lack the rights.
Rad Racer - I believe Square owns this.
Riqa - This game never came out! It's a legendary piece of N64 vaporware.
Bomberman 64 - They'd need Hudson's permission, I think.
Buggie Boogie - Doesn't exist. A piece of 64DD vaporware that hardly got off the ground.
Creator - More non-existent vaporware.
Cruis'n USA - I'm thinking Midway owns this.
Cruis'n World - I'm thinking Midway owns this, too.
Catroots - Vaporware.
Climber - Vaporware.
Cu-On-Pa - N64 version was cancelled, Nintendo has no rights to PSX version.
Dezaemon DD - More 64DD vaporware.
DD Sequencer - Guess what? Vaporware!
Emperor of the Jungle - More legendary vaporware. This could be said to be the game that went on to become the foundation of Nintendogs years later.
Jack and the Beanstalk - Another vaporware tragedy that didn't get far.
Kirby's Air Ride - Another classic piece of vaporware!
Mickey's Speedway USA - Not sure about Rare, but I think Disney's stake in this counts for something.
Mini Racers - Vaporware. Again.
Mischief Makers - Rights lie with Enix and Treasure.
Perfect Dark - I don't think they own full rights to the original. Not without Rare's (and Microsoft's) permission, could this happen.
StarCraft 64 - Blizzard owns this! Jeez.
Wall Street DD - Vaporware.

There's more games on that list that don't make sense (Ura Zelda is debatable), and there are numerous others that they own that aren't listed. And I will admit, I'm not POSITIVE about the legal status of some of the Nintendo-published but 3rd-party-developed games, like Bomberman, Sin & Punishment, and several SNES games. Same goes for games which other companies have legal stakes in, like GoldenEye, The New Tetris, and Mickey's Speedway USA.

IGN is really scraping the bottom of the barrel if they need to post impossibility-riddled lists made by random forumers like this one, as they did here (http://cube.ign.com/articles/622/622722p1.html).

This is really too bad for Nintendo. They will charge some fee for the games or give you free downloads with new purchases I'm sure. Unfortunately for them I think both MS and Sony are going to shrink Nintendo's already small market next round.

Only the most faithful followers of Nintendo will be buying their system at launch. I'm sure it will be the last to be released in the US and the least powerful.

You're kind of dUMB, aren't you? Have you seen the "which next-gen console will you buy" polls? And the PS2 is the least powerful of the current systems, and that didn't hurt it, did it?

God...

There's a big difference, though.

The main reason the PS2 was the least powerful was because it launched first. Nintendo will be the least powerful next-gen, and it will launch last. Big difference.

Also, the PS2 had a whole year head start against Nintendo and Microsoft.

I suppose. But we still don't know exactly how powerful the Rev is (I still think they're doing at least some reverse-bluffing). We'll see.

And I still point to those polls.

Cats out of the bag, bitches

Famitsu:

Iwata "Though the baseless rumor flows in the internet that the virtual console download service is free, it is not scheduled to deliver it in free.
maybe download it (old games) as a privilege when consumers buy a new game,
maybe download it by consistent of the campaign at limited time,
variety methods will be used.
Using the properties in the past, I want to take shape that the profit is paid to Nintendo to the end. "

God...

Um...the PS2 was shown at E3 with bullshit graphic capabilities and was released much earlier than the Gamecube and the Xbox with it being the cheapest DVD player on the market at the time in Japan.

If you think that the PS2 was just so good people just bought it and not at least from one of the things above, you're the dUMB one.

The fact that Nintendo is purely relying on the past to pave a future for them is just plain sad. I for one, will not be fooled by this stupidity.

Oh yea, fuck those polls...you cant make a clear desision without clear nominees.

If nintendo is so great? Why are they losing third party support like the fucking plague? Why is the Gamecube under portable systems in sales? Why is it that the Gamecube gets one good game every 3 months?

Even if Square, Hudson and Rare let their games be on there, and for the hell of it even the Vaporware games got on there....

Is anyone even wondering how the hell you would play Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, Gyromite, Stack Up, and Super Scope 6 with out a Lightgun or R.O.B?

AS much as I hate to say it, List is total BS.
