Could be a very good fit for the DS as Nintendogs has been doing very well for the DS in Japan and looks to make a big splash in the US, as well. Anyone looking forward to this pet simulator?

EDIT: Read the updated post. (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1261470&postcount=13)

Didn't you get the memo? 1996 is new and innovative.

1996 is the new 360. :)

I think it is a greta idea. I loved those things (I was 9 and had a Yoda one) and they can comeback now better than ever.

I'd buy it, if done right. I always remembered how cool they looked (both the device and pet).

They were pretty cool. Both my Tamagotchi and keychain Digimon died a few years ago. So many reasons to get a DS at first price drop coming up that it isn't funny.

<3 your sig by the way, duck.

I don't think Tamagotchi can beat out Nintendogs, simply because Nintendogs are going to look so much nicer than however Bandai decides to make (3D?) Tamagotchi characters. Thats part of the charm of Nintendogs, you can almost feel the emotions of the puppy and thats what draws you in. They're going to have to pull off something major for people to let go of their puppies for evolving chicken things.

That article wasn't very descriptive, and it left me wondering if it is just going to be a virtual pet to take care of, or will there be more involved. Obviously they can't just make it a virtual pet alone, there must be something else involved.

Oh well, either way I would never buy it.

Tamagotchi DS has been given a US release for sometime in early 2006. They mention the details of what the gameplay is like:

In Tamagotchi: Shop Simulation, players open specialty shops, and develop their businesses by servicing customers through mini games that utilize the Nintendo DS's touch-screen functionality. Players can select from a variety of different stores, including a bakery, beauty salon, dentist's office, flower shop, and more. Once the shop is open, players will help their customers by completing mini games with the Nintendo DS stylus. Apply makeup, treat cavities, decorate cakes and complete many other shop-specific tasks to earn money and progress towards "royal" shop status. Shop interiors can be customized, and cute Tamagotchi characters will make appearances throughout the adventure.

Now that it's coming to the US, are any of you DS owners looking forward to this game?

I'll throw in some pics, as well.

You know, when I made my first post in this thread it was an insult on the DS. Now 3 months later I own one and Nintendogs. WTF?

the shop idea sounds fun, i'll pick it up when it's a bargain price.
