My friend is in the US army in a infantry division. He called me last year around my birthday and said that he was being deployed to iraq. He said that he would be gone for 6-8 months. Now I know that with the army things can change in a heartbeat. However I just need to know that he is not dead, injured , POW, or MIA. I say this cause his wife was calling me once a week and updating me with what's going on. I don't have there number or any address since they moved off base. and Have heard nothing since november of last year. He was stationed at fort hood in texas.

thanks in advance for help.

.... I'm looking for a thing... I'm told it helps people do stuff... I'm not sure what it looks like or how much it costs... can you get me a deal on it?

Honestly... You don't even give a name... Not that any of us would know where he was possitioned if you told us. CAG =/= Army website.

Fuck you it does help people do stuff it is a human life that defends your dumb sorry ass, and this country. did you not read the part about infantry yea he is killing people why you sleep at night in a warm comfortable bed. while he sleeps on a cold desert floor. I may not agree with the war however fuck he is doing his part and that is more then your sorry ass is doing.

I was just wondering if someone knew something I did not know. I have called the base they do not release info if the solider is active duty that is what I was told by someone who answers phones. unless you know what apartment number they are in, and he lives off base. I googled everything and could not find nothing.

I didn't say anything bad about your friend or what he was doing. I was saying we were awefully vague with your poorly phased request. I didn't personally attack you and call you names or swear at you.

However, if you want to start calling names and getting into pissing matches with strangers, I'm sure the trolls in the versus forum will be more than accommodating. You'll fit right in with your lack of ability to express complex ideas without swearing.

*after some sleep*

Not to be a dick, but what posses you to think any of us would have any better luck? He's YOUR friend and they wouldn't tell you; we don't even know his name. The fact that they said they don't give out info on active soldiers should give you some solace because to be active you must be alive.

Now- to be a dick- learn how to compose a proper sentence. Re-reading that gave me a headache.

Aside from calling the Base Locator it looks like snail mail is your best bet:

Locating Military People (http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/locatorservices/a/millocate.htm)

Call long distance information, and ask them to connect you to the Base Operator at the base in question. When the Base Operator comes on the line, ask to be connected to the Base Locator. The Base Locator can give you the duty phone number and duty address of any active duty person stationed on that base. Unless the individual has asked to keep the information private, the locator can also give you their home phone number and home address.

To locate other active duty members (and retirees, in some cases), you need to contact the specific military services member locator service. Give as much identifying information as possible about the person you wish to locate such as full name, rank, last duty assignment/last known military address, service number, and Social Security number. The locator service is free to immediate family members and government officials. Other family members, civilian friends, businesses and others may be required to pay a fee. If so, the check or money order must be made out to the "U.S. Treasury," and is not refundable.

U.S. Army: The Army has no phone locator service. It also will not help in the location of retirees. Inquiries should be mailed to:

Commander
U.S. Army Enlisted Records & Evaluation Center
ATTN: Locator
Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN 46249-5301

Just remember:

Even if the people you are looking for are on active duty or retired, whether or not the military will release information they do have on file is dependent upon the circumstances.

I was trying to find a childhood friend of mine. He moved away and I haven't heard from him since. Believe it or not, his name is John Smith. He's in the Air Force someplace and it has been difficult to tracking to track him down. His full name is John Kevin Smith. :)
