just picked up a blue DS with Mario 64...thanks to Kmart and Gamestop, I have these games:
DS:
--Zoo Keeper
--Polarium
--Wario Ware
--Mario
GBA:
--Phantasy Star Collection
--Super Dodge Ball
--Guilty Gear Advance

I love it so far. There are so many GBA games I wanna play and a ton of good DS games coming out this fall. I have a hard time deciding what to play cause every game I have for the system is so addictive :D

This just makes me realize that I should have never bought a DS at launch. I didn't get the free Mario. I paid $40 plus tax for Zoo Keeper. I had no choice of color. I got the grainy touch screen, which Nintendo no longer puts out, had to trade it in for a new grid one, which was a hassle.
Now is the best time to buy a DS.

This should probably be a poll. Anyone that gets the electric blue DS can you post some pics.
I just bought an electric blue DS today. Its charging as we speak. The system looks hot. Its a bluish purple. It looks far better in person than the pics on the internet and on the box.
On a side note, I'm a tad bit disappointed because the system feels kind of on the cheap side when compared to my original GBA, my GBC, and old School GB. The DS lacks that sturdy as a brick feel that those systems had. I'm almost afraid the system would break if I dropped it. Then again Nintendo did make it...so it should be pretty well built.

I'm still gonna hold out for a price drop, hopefully around the time Animal Crossing comes out. Mario isn't a game I really want for it anyway, so that's not much added value for me. I'm gonna be patient on this one. :)

I got my DS in January and had mine replaced for dead pixels in April, I think I may have gotten a grainy screen in return. How can I tell for sure? What would Nintendo say if I were to send it in again for that reason? I was planning to send it back in before the year is up anyway because the hinge on my system is looser than my friend's DS anyway.
Found this : http://db.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/ds_touchscreen.txt
Helpful, though now I'm not sure if I should still exchange it again. The loose hinge bothers me more so I probably still will get it replaced.

I got my Blue DS w/ mario 64 and Mario Advance 2 Mario World for 180!
Is it the same blue as the Blue SP?
No sir, its shinny and looks like the color blue. Not too purplish. Blue is the dominate color. Its also metallic and a not flat blue. Pics don't show off the color very well. Its way more impressive than the silver.

I'm guessing the next DS bundles gonna be an electric blue ds with Lost in Blue, pending whether that game sells or not.

Its a shame the shinny part of the paint doesn't show through in the Pics very well. In pictures it almost looks like a mat purple, yet in reality its a shinny blue.

I'm so close to getting one... <_<
You should Its totally worth it. I was going to buy a PSP this week but this DS deal and its E3 showing totally won me over. After using and playing my DS for the day I'm extremely happy with it and have no desire to buy a PSP at the current moment. The DS is worth it.
I'm buying one. The new color + free Mario 64 (the only way I would have ever gotten that game) was like one of those jumpkick - crouchkick combos in Street Fighter. I blocked the first one, but the second one took me down. Only in this case, it costs me $150 USD + tax.
I picked up one of the Titanium ones with the Metroid demo, and Mario today. The blue does look very nice though.
I picked up a used copy of Feel the Magic, and an extended warranty for the DS, so no troubles down the road. I had a little over $150 left in credit at EB, so I only had to pay around $39 in actual cash for everything. All in all I'm quite happy with it

Between my GCN, PC, PSP, PS2, GBA SP, and N64 (all of which I have bought a lot of games for this month and last) I am so poor they would have to drop the price 90%.

Still on the fence. I want one, but I can't decide if I should get one now, or wait for another price drop/new color/free pack-in to come out. The Electric Blue sure looks sexy, though. My only problem is that other than Mario 64, I wouldn't be able to afford any games until a long time from now. *Sigh*...I never was good at decisions.

Already have it--and love it. I haven't paid $30 or more for a game in about 9 years but I will probably dish out the cash this week for Kirby.

Those are a good enuff reason to get 1 now...

Plus when compared to the PSP, the DS is more durable... and not so prone to scratches...

Has it been decided yet that not all DS touch screens have the slightly blurry look? I bought mine at launch and have had the "fuzzy" screen since and it would be great to get one that didn't have it.
Does anyone else have the fuzzy touch screen? Is there anything I can do to help mine if the screen isn't normal?

Yeah my two screens have a different look to them. My top one seems more clear. I have a new electric blue DS. I think that grid over the touch screen is what makes it look less clear.

Without any fanboy crap or anything, can someone tell me if Mario 64 DS is as fun to play as Mario 64 N64?
Are the controls similar, is the picture good, and can you move the camera?
And is jumping just as easy or is it awkward?

Well... I only played a little of Mario 64 back in the day, but I think Mario 64 DS is pretty fun.
Having four characters definately puts a new spin on things... it's pretty fun playing as Yoshi. I use the stylus to play, and jumping is a bit awkward at first but I think I've gotten the hang of it.
You can move the camera, it's very simple to do. Graphics seems a bit cleaned up, as well.
I think if you were a fan of Mario 64, you'd like DS just as much.

Honestly it is a little akward at first. Especially if you have been playing it on the N64 recently. I didn't realize that if you use the D-Pad you need to hold down a button to run just like in a classic 2D mario. I was walking around going man this sucks. I think it does take a little while to get used to using the D-pad but the game is great and once you get used to it, its fine. It did bother me at first but now it seems fine.

Same here once I read the manual and learned how to run with d pad and got use to moving around with it I fell in love with the game. In all truth all the touch screen control options suck. The standard D pad setting is ten times better than the other ones.

Well, I am sad to report that I bought the new Blue one today at Gamerush but they wouldn't let me have the copy of Mario 64 with it. I think that Gamerush probably won't get up on this deal for a few weeks because of Blockbuster Coporate. When I asked the employee about it and tried to explain that this was a new nationwide deal he had no idea about it but I just bought it because it was the last one they will have for a while.

It's not actually "nationwide." Nintendo has a list of participating retailers on their DS website. And no, it appears Gamerush is not included.
Personally, I wouldn't have gone through with the purchase if Mario didn't come with it. You could have hopped over to Best Buy and picked one up with the free game. But hey, to each his own.

I woke up this morning with the feeling that I needed a DS, so I went and picked up a blue one. I could've sworn at DS launch reading everyone saying that using the thumbpad was the best way to control it but that made the game pretty damn annoying. Now playing with the D-pad I can't stop playing :)

This deal was the perfect incentive that I was looking for to get one. It was great to know about it 2 weeks in advance so I could save up somewhat for it. Thanks Scahom1 and TXboxGuy. Was waiting for something like this for a long time. It was either a price drop or free game pack in. Glad it was this one. I'm also glad it was right around when school was off/finished as I made it into a end of the year/graduation present to myself. I also picked up Zoo Keeper and Feel the Magic for it already thanks to the Kmart 50% off sale last weekend. If you were wondering, I got my DS on Sunday this week but didn't post in this thread. Decided on the platinum/silver/titanium color since it came with the Metroid demo, which is basically another mini game, not too mention I didn't really care too much about color. I've charged it up and I absolutely love it.
I want to get a few more games for it, mainly Warioware, Yoshi, and Kirby, but I'm short on funds. I'm also hoping to get Polarium for it but preferably after a price drop. The only game I see myself going out of my way for when it comes out is Lunar. Otherwise I'm playing the waiting game now.

I also took the plunge. I picked mine up at a local Gamestop ( Silver w/ Metroid demo ) and the guy tried first to sell me a used DS and Mario so i could pick a third game free. When I declined, he tried to charge me for Mario! I had to show him a sign in the store! Dumbass...anyway, system is pretty neat. Now I want to go back and pick up a couple GBA games that I missed out on (Zelda:MC and Fire Emblem) My g/f likes all the minigames in SM64DS, go figure.
