I need your help.

I am trying to decide which 3 RPGs to get for the PS2.
Here are the choices:
1. Shining Tears
2. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
3. Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity
4. Ys: The Ark of Napishtim

This is for the Gamestop G2G1F deal.

Thanks in advance.

I only played Disgaea so far, and I would recommend that.

I can tell by your avatar.

Thanks. I'll pick it up for sure.

Shining Tears would be considered the worst of the 4 games.

Looks intersting though from an RPG fan point. And it might become rare. So if you want to play it. I could be wrong but i'd say get it if you have the cash. I'm trolling for a cheap price for it at the moment. 30 or so. Shining Tears that is.

Get Disgaea, no matter what. There simply is no choice with that one.

Shining Tears is cool, but I think it has the best chances of becoming cheap later on, out of all of those. So, go ahead and get Stella Deus, Ys, and Disgaea, and keep an eye on Shining Tears for later.

I'd choose these

2. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
3. Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity
4. Ys: The Ark of Napishtim

one more note, Shining Tears has a 2 player co op mode, but single player it is still the worst of the 4 games.

Agreed, and I haven't even played Stella Deus yet. But it HAS to be better than Shining Tears.

Were those your only options? Disgaea is really the only "must-have" on the list. If you already have the other big RPGs then I'd go for some of the others (I have Stella Deus, and I'm sure I'll end up w/ the others sooner or later...). But if not, I'd keep an eye out for the Shadow Hearts games, or SMT:Nocturne or DDS.

Some of the elements of shining tears seem interesting, but yeah it's definetly a 20 dollar buy. But if it sells horribly it could be like xenogears or Disgaea and still be mad expensive. I'm on the fence myself about it. I'm probably gonna wait though. If ffx and x-2 drop drastically so will all four of those at some point.

Shadow Hearts by the way, hows that. With the EB sale the original is more expensive then the sequel. Is that a good game. How would you rank it.

Shining Tears is really bad from what I played.

I'd go with 2-4 on that list of yours. I'd keep Disgaea definitely and maybe Stella Deus, but would most definitely switch out Ys for a Shadow Hearts game or at the very least, SMT: N. Plus, you can find SH: C for $19.99 at EBgames.com:D

Thanks everyone for their input.

I decided and picked up:

1. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
2. Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity
3. Ys: The Ark of Napishtim

I also picked up a mint Shadow Hearts: Convenant ($17.99) w/ Phantom Brave and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex at Gamestop (Buy 2 used get 1 free deal).

The first Shadow Hearts was $24.99...kind of regret for not picking that up. Might go back and trade GS:SAC for it.

Good job. I was going to recommend Disgaea and Stella Deus. Shadow Hearts is worth $25 IMO, but you could probably find it cheaper elsewhere.

I hated Ys! Don't buy it, well you can but I wouldn't. Instead of 3 RPG's why not pick up a different type of game to give a rest between levelling up?

(1) Final Fantasy 10 (if you like a good story... also good for newbies)
- or - 10-2 (if you like good random battles & FF5-style job-switching)

(2) Kingdom Hearts

(3) Xenosaga 1

Also, make sure to check out the PS1 RPGs.
