there's only 1 "official" SMT game for the PS2 and that's Nocturne, aka SMT 3. Digital Devil Saga 1+2 are 2 volumes of a separate spin off series. they don't have the SMT name in Japan. There are some similar story elements, graphics, enemies and gameplay elements, but it's just cosmetic stuff like that. the games are in 2 seperate worlds.
SMT 1+2 were originally for the SNES and have had some remakes.

Also there are a million SMT spin-offs, the Persona series being 3 of them, as well at the DDS games. None of them as I'm aware have to do with the main storyline.
