Welcome members of CheapAssGamer.com.

I invite you to join and sign this historical peace accord. I feel slightly responsible for starting some of this political tension between us. (see: How could anyone vote for George W. Bush?) I didn't do it to start a fight, but I should have seen it coming.

We all different politically. Some Republican, some Democratic, others crazy 3rd Party guys (kidding!). We all have different views on some of the big issues in the world. Be it, the War, abortion, religion, if it's ok to rip off Wal-Mart, :D we all think differently.

I vote that we all sign here, and by doing so never post on the above topics again.

Remember we all came here for a reason. To worship at the feet of our master CheapyD, who provides us with an abundance of video games at a cheapass price. Let's all rejoice in video games and video game related material.

Never post on politically-relevant topics? Why not? How could we not? We live in this country, it's only natural that we chat about the headlines. Rather, we could absolve one another of hurt feelings or posts written in anger during past threads....right on, John Ham! (I see that small font, you turkey)

That link doesn't go anywhere.

And I should note early that I'd like this post to remain about the peace accord only. No hostility in here.

I don't neccesairly see it as an argument/fight, but more of a heated discussion. I think it's good that some of us actually took time to chime in on the subject, because it shows that people in our demographic (which I assume most people here are in their teens to 20's) do actually give a damn about politics.

Plus, we can talk about things like this on CAG boards, unlike the prudes at Game FAQs.

Nnnooooo....there are plenty of out-and-out insults being thrown back and forth in many (if not most) of these threads which even brush against touchy subjects. The Tillman thread, the abortion thread, all of the Bush-related threads....come to think of it, I can't think of an example where we have all remained civil (or that you could honestly call a 'heated discussion.') There are always....a few....individuals who start things off by telling someone else he's a @#%!*& piece of@#%!!8&(.

[edit: plus, you left me out of your demographic. I'm nearly thirty, you @#%!% head. Heh heh!]

yes, at least some of the posters here are halfway intelligent and not namecalling nine year olds. Political discussions always degrade into heated arguments, but that's just man's nature. I quite enjoy it, actually. If it's not confrontational it's usually just boring smalltalk anyway!

We all have different beliefs, but videogames and CAG bring us all together. We are all one big family.

I will not agree to this peace accord.

Instead, I will give you freedom.

You are free to ignore threads.
You are free not to post in threads.

You are free. The rest of us may or may not participate. But we reserve the right to do so if we desire.

I'm just asking that we all get along. So when we (myself included) post about about politics we don't get along. I just want us all to go back to talking about games and hating on Metroid Prime.

I think it's important to distinguish between intelligent (albeit sometimes hostile) political discussion, and personal attacks. Even in some of tenser situations, I've never thought "man, i hate this guy", it's more of "man, he's short-sighted", or "man, he's stuborn". Bottom line: I think discussion is always a healthy thing, even if it does lead to 20 pages of "no it isn't, yes it is"

Bottom line is there are a lot of immature CAG's.

Sad but true.

The vulgarity, hostile posts, name calling etc. by these immature posters is fueled by response to their childish remarks.

They will never go away!

To promote civil communications we must learn to ignore the garbage posted by them.

I have to agree. What makes our political system work is that it is founded on the notion that people will discuss and debate. I would rather debate now than regret later.

I also agree that we should treat each other respectfully, regardless of whether we agree or disagree. And I agree with whoever said they see people as "short-sighted", not "I hate that person". Good viewpoint. "Just as iron sharpens iron", you have to have some friction to create a smooth finish. If there is no conflict, there will never be resolution.

I like your idea of getting along, but I don't think refusal to discuss what is important is the way to go about it. The motives are definitely good though and a refreshing change.

Garbage? What makes you think my fibble fabble isn't an important and meaningful contribution to the society of the CAG's? How could you!

I was initially stating that we shouldn't vote for anyone, but yes I agree. I'll sign *scrawls username absent-mindedly*

I vote to have politics in its own forums to keep the off-topic more friendly and fun.

Politics can ruin this place really quickly. I have seen it happen in other forums where suddenly Dems and Reps take sides in heated battles. Of course it does flow over into ordinary topics.

GameFaqs has it right to now allow political discussion. Its not the place for it.

That's a great idea...get to it, Technical Advisor! :D

I'm going to refrain from the political threads. Partially because I don't want to get involved in the flaming, and partially because I can't vote this year (I turn eighteen three days after the election...talk about being screwed over).

Dems only want peace accords to contain their enemies while they regroup. Then they'll pull a hitler out of their back pocket and attack russia with no warning!
