I'm not talking about chips or anything, but has anybody done any cool paint jobs or changing the LED's or something? I want to see pics :)

I haven't done any myself, but I'm tempted now that I have 2 and I can use one as a guinea pig.

Wow, I've never even heard of Cube modding. PICS! :)

wonder what the west coast custom guys could do with a cube. they made the xbox look pretty sweet on the 360 premiere.

I did this....with my Jet Cube.

the large number '4' isn't there in the real product. and the seams aren't that close. i'll give it 6 outta 10. plus it's not made with the GameBoy Player and Broadband adaptor in mind. strictly for the default Cube.

Yeah, I have the RE4 'mod'. However, my GB player is fine with it... I assume you mean because the graphics don't go over the GB player, right?

I haven't personally, but I saw something amazing on Xbox-scene-- someone made an Xbox-Cube. It's both systems in one box-- the Gamecube discs load in through the green xbox jewel on the top. I forgot exactly what they did, it was a huge process, but they made a custom case for the whole contraption, added some fans and leds, of course. it was SICK!

i bet they'd put about 5 lcd screens on it, paint it candy apple red, then add a jacuzzi or bowling alley to the back.

I'm suprised it works at all .... even for the standard 'Cube. According to them this is a cool way to customize your PS2. I wonder if they have Mario skins for my xbox??

You people are so unimaginative. Here's my idea - paint the whole damn thing white. I dunno... maybe stick one of these on the top:

http://www.gameconsoleskins.com/skins/gamecube/jewels/gamecube-jewel-detail/628/31.htm

Okay, so maybe my idea wasn't that creative. But I do believe Nintendo Power had a really short section on system mods a while back. I'll try to get a scan - but be warned, what you see may shock you. In a good, fuzzy kind of way though.

There was already a FF:CC Crystal white GC awhile ago, very rare nowadays I hear. Someone sold a white gc with black trim no to long ago on here.

okay, here's the X-cube...It loads the games on the top right, not through the jewel. here's some pics:

and here's the thread about the process. The black underlined words are links the OP put in, but look out for the green highlighted words, they link to ads.

Yeah, I remember seeing that one a couple of weeks ago. He sold his on ebay though. I've been searching on google and there are people that talk about putting in LED's and stuff but I haven't seen any pics...

About a year ago I gave my Cube the retro NES treatment, complete with red LED.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v369/drumbandit/NEScube.jpg

Before that, I had put a blue LED in there. Back then, the only soldering iron I had was a huge, old one, so I ended up completely frying the circuit board all around the LED. It didn't hurt anything but it wasn't pretty. When I went to put the red one in, the spot the LED connected to was so fried I couldn't make a connection. I ended up having to run 5V from the fan's DC supply and connect it to the red LED with a few resistors. Moral of the story, don't be a cheap ass. Pay the 10 bucks for a new soldering iron instead of using your dad's from the dawn of time.

Thanks for the link banpeikun! Those Mario and Luigi skins definitely look cool.

I found this link to download templates for different consoles:
http://designerskins.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?page=D/CTGY/ZM

I might try to make my own and stick it on the cube. Anyone know what kind of glue would be best?

Hmm, would something like this work to make your own skins?

Stickies don't leave any residues, but I'm wondering just how sticky they are.
