I remember when they first opened they would give about 35-40 the most for SNES game. Now known as gamestop they give crap value it seems lesser and lesser everyday.

The Funcoland in my area is now a Gamestop, I think it was changed a year or two ago.

i've still got a funcoland here in Atlanta, but just one that i know of. what's funny is that there's a Gamestop about 5-8 minutes away. Hmm.

Funcoland, Gamestop, and Planet X (which are all owned by the same parent company, which I believe is Barnes and Noble) are within a few feet of one another in the local mall by me. Still have the integrity of separate names, to fake a competitive mall marketplace. i dislike it, most of the times they mark up the price of new titles by an additional $5, so it'll be $54.99 instead of $49.99.
bastards.

I have never seen one so obviously there isn't one where I live which is outside of Atlanta in Athens.

Yeah man, i live in Decatur, and the only one i have ever seen is by North Dekalb Mall off Lavista Rd. They were supposed to put one out off HWY 124 in Snellville about 4 years ago, but they never did. Now i think there's an EB going in where the Funco was supposed to go...

i still never understood how stores owned by the same company treated games so different. take a scratched game into funcoland and they wouldnt take it, go over to software etc and theyd take it. and softtware etc's trade in values were always so much lower than funcoland and their used games prices were higher. weird

There was never one by me, just a Software Etc that turned into a Gamespot late last year.

I used to have Funcolands and Babbages up the wazoo out by me. Now they're ALL gamestops. Ugh. I just feel kinda weird going to 6 gamestops.

Man.....remember back in the day when Funcoland used to have those used game lists? I miss those days...

Trust me guys, we had a meeting about this. All of the aforementioned stores will eventually be called GameStops. I think they were considering changing the name of B Dalton's Booksellers to BArnes And Nobel Something or other as well. I'll ask about that.

I have a lot of Gamestops in my area (Planet Comic, 2 Gamestop) and then theres Funcoland which is down the street which is part of Gamestop now...So Its still called that but its essentially the same story.

hey organicow--don't know who Damien Nash is do you?

FuncoLand still exists here, but they suck. They give you nothing for trade-in and are actually worse than EB around here about selling you "New" games. One dude tried to sell me a "New" one with the stickers and everything. Then he said, "well, I'll take the sticker off and shrink wrap it for you" I was ticked. So, he takes the sticker off (leaving all the sticky nastiness on my NEW game). I said "No, I don't want it anymore. You don't have to shrink-wrap it." Haven't bought anything in there since (and i used to shop there alot for used games). now I go to EB across the street after I check prices in FuncoLand.

Not a Funco Land left, if I'm not mistaken...they all changed their name to GameStop a few years ago. :(

That said, I've noticed that the staff in the mall GameStop stores is usually better than the staff in the strip mall or freestanding stores...Maybe it's just my area, but it seems like the people in the mall stores are more knowledgable, more polite, and actually seem to enjoy their jobs. Too bad the mall stores have no selection whatsoever when it comes to older games...

yeah my funcoland is a gamestop, I remember not knowing what the store was when I first drove by it. But I thought it was one of the coolest stores once I went in. I really liked the Used game lists that looked like news papers.
