I went to play smash bros yesterday and had a wavebird, a black controller and a platinum controller plugged in. I turned on the system, put on the game and it gave me a dreaded DRE, which was BS since the system and the game are both perfect.
It wasn't until I unplugged the wavebird that the game worked...? Strange, eh? anyone else have this happen?

I was also playing smash bros melee yesterday and nope it didn't happen to me yesterday and it hasn't happened to me ever , the only thing i can think of is just make sure that as you plug in any of the controlers none of the buttons are being pressed ( i don't have a wavebird ) !

Did you try using the Wavebird again after it worked? It really sounds like a fluke more than anything, since I really havn't heard of a hardware conflict like that in a console.

Yeah, and it worked fine.

that's probably it...my 6 year old nephew had the other controller. he was probably jamming away on the buttons as usual

That's weird. My cube has been rock solid since I got it at launch. My PS2 throws out the occasional DRE, and my XBox throws one out on about every 6th disc (although if I turn it off and then turn it back it ALWAYS works strangely enough).
For some reason my ONLY DRE came from RE 4, I don't know why..
