I was looking at that the other day but refuse since 30 bucks for a most likely incomplet Ogre Battle sucks.

personally after owning this game, it's not worth the price, i would pay 10-15 for a compleate copy mint, but it's just not a good game-graphix suck, music is bad, the voices are horrible, and the ending is screwed up

I would just like to say this is one of the two games from my collection that I ever sold in my life for a reason. It sucks ass beyond belief. The fact that you don't control combat at all except for when to use special ability makes this game long and tedious. Just wanted to warn some potential buyers.

Uh...it IS a tactics RPG, you know. You shouldn't try to scare people away from it just because you don't understand tactics RPGs.

I got my copy a couple of years ago at a pawn shop for $12 complete! It plays better than it's SNES counterpart and looks slightly better, but for some reason the music and translation is actually worse.

CoffeeEdge, Tactics??? Every other tactics game I know gives you an option for every character in your party to attack, defend, cast spells, do special attacks on every round of attack. This game all you get to do is choose when to cast your only special attack. You basically engage in battle while the computer controls your group and the enemies. Then you sit around and wait till you die or the bad guys die. Throughout this you might get the chance to push a button for a special attack. It is utterly boring. Oh... I forgot to mention that the enemies follow the same path each and everytime you play the same stage. This way you can start a stage just to observe their movements, then on the next play through you can position your troops around the predetermined enemy path. CoffeeEdge, there goes your idea of tactics. Did I mention that you most likely will end up with just one or two super units while the rest of the units are duds? Its a really bad game. I'm just warning you guys, because I was fooled into buying this turd when it was new. But if you go ahead and buy it you will see what I'm talking about. I still have nightmares of this game. $30 is way too much...

PS CoffeeEdge, next time try not to assume too much. I just gave my opinion on the game to help people out who are on the border of purchasing this turd. I love tactics games, but this one right here is like watching a movie. Maybe I should make a new genre and call it Cinematic Tactics: Where you the player control practically nothing.

Yeah, Ogre Battle is far from a tactical RPG; that's what Tactics Ogre is. OB is a nice real-time simulation RPG. It's amazing how many people try to label it as an SRPG when it's nothing of the sort. It's strategic, yes, and it's an RPG, sure, but compared to defining SRPGs like Fire Emblem, Langrisser, Super Robot Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Tactics Ogre, it's closer to an RTS than SRPG. I'll just leave it as a strategic RPG or simulation RPG.

It does get boring since all you do is order units around to liberate as many locales as you can with many hidden ones and at the end of each map defeat the boss. The maps just get bigger and the monotony just increases. I like the variety of characters and political atmosphere but I'd agree that the gameplay is a bit too repetitive; that's why I think the Tactics Ogre chapters are a lot better than the Ogre Battle chapters: you can actually tactically control your force.

Ganelon, I agree with you and you said it better than I did. I also liked the variety of characters. I remember having an undead/horror super unit with a werewolf, vampire, and 3 other undead/horror guys that I can't remember. It was nice, but the gameplay is really what killed this game for me. It definitely had potential though.

alright, you can get the manual/chart for $3 shipped from atlus.com so do NOT be scared away by the possibility of incompleteness.

*shrugs* i think getting a new manual + chart for $3 shipped isnt a bad deal(did i mention the manual + chart they send you will be new?)

and having a mint manual/chart matters to some of you I just know it, bc the manual you have might be beat up.

like if you only had a blank CD case? that would be sweet. anyway, this fuking Movie Gallery about 10 miles away has all these rare PS1 games for rent. i really want them to sell the old games, but they're on the shelves, fading, just sitting there. they also have like 3 racks full of N64 games for rent, boxes and everything. i mean, it's mesmerizing, none of it's for sale.
