That was leaked prior to E3. Hence, take it with a grain of salt. I do like it though.

Revolution isn't even the freakin offical name of the system! It's the codename.

Yeah, just like the DS is the codename of the DS.

Nintendo seemingly has gotten less creative. I doubt anyone thought that Nintendo DS would have stuck as the retail name. If Revolution wasn't going to be the name of the next Nintendo console, they would have given it its retail name at E3. For example, Nintendo referred to the "Dolphin" prior to the official announcement of the Gamecube. However, at that announcement, it was called the Gamecube. Revolution was called Revolution from its official announcement at E3...I expect it to stick.

Plus, you have to wonder why Nintendo would take the time to work on a logo, and have it placed on the prototype. I think that what Nintendo is doing is trying to be more open with consumers, but they're not sure about how to do so. I don't think they want another "Wind Waker" to happen to them, so they say that the codename is the DS and Revolution to test the waters a bit.
But thats pure speculation......(doing my best to cover my ass when they decide to release the real name and I'm wrong) ;)
EDIT: Just noticed something, why would Nintendo even trademark a codename (unless photoshopped in)?

Nintendo has got to be able to come up with something better than that.

I don't like it that much. It works, I guess, but geez...just a big curvy "R"?
Oh well, I suppose it's better than the PS3's Spider-Man font.

Oh it looks teh artzy!
looks all sophisticated, unlike the more kid-inclined N64, GBA, NGC logos.

I don't believe that "R" logo is fake as several people were saying. At the E3 press conference that "R" was flashing around in big mosaics during the presentation.

Somehow I think in the end the logo is secondary to the console and games. I don't mind it, myself, though it kind of reminds me of the logo for that Boomerang channel on TV...
It looks like something from a cheesy old show about the future (like I could see that logo in The Jetsons).

Yeah, just like the DS is the codename of the DS.
Umm no it wasn't, but thanks for trying.
The DS was just what everyone called it. Nintendo never released the codename until like a month before the system came out.
They still should call it Nintendo 5. Microsoft and Sony want to play the number game then Nintendo will kick both their asses.

Cool logo.
Although, it makes me think of a paper clip that's been bent out of shape.

But that would be a step down from their Nintento 64.
Nintendo never has been very creative when it came to naming their consoles. Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Nintendo 64, Gamecube, and Revolution. The worst is N64. Its from nintendo, and it has a 64 bit CPU. Wow such creativity!

Oh yes because Playstaion, Playstation 2, and Playstation 3 are sooooooooo much more creative! The Microsoft trying to get "3" into there name! But yeah Nintendo is so uncreative with there names!

Just goes to show how our mentally has changed from the 80's. Back then, the word "Super" meant a upgrade (anyone remember the original name for the N64, the "Nintendo Ultra 64"?). Now you have to put an increasing number to mean that its better than its predecessor.

I'd quicker buy a Super Xbox than an Xbox 360.

right?
It was DS, codenamed for it's dual screens. Then, when Nintendo actually talked about it openly, they talked about sending Nitro kits to developers. Then, It went back to DS. This is why what that frog guy said makes sense to me. It seems they codenamed it DS early on, then decided they liked the name, so switched it up so that they could have a different codename and actual name. Sorry if thatseems confusing...
