The GameCube version gets a name, and new information is revealed.

Natsume today announced that it is renaming its new GameCube Harvest Moon – previously called Song of Happiness – to Harvest Moon: Magical Melody.

The company says that this Harvest Moon will return the series to its roots, bringing back plenty of crops to harvest, farm life to raise, NPCs to chat with and other familiar features. In it, the Harvest Goddess has been turned to stone, and it’s up to players to collect 100 musical notes that will lead to magically restoring the Goddess. In addition to the traditional farming and animal-raising aspects of Magical Melody, gamers will also be able to upgrade and customize their house in a number of different ways. Moreover, they can play as either a boy or girl this time around and can choose between 10 different NPCs to marry and start a family with.

"Magical Melody has got a lot of what the Harvest Moon series has been over the last 10 years rolled into one package," said a spokesperson for Natsume.

Magical Melody is scheduled to ship this November in Japan and in March of 2006 in North America.

Here are some pictures....

And some great features.....

-Big new feature is a 4 player competition mode.
-You can choose to play as a boy or a girl.
-You can choose where you wish to live at the begining of the game, at the beach (large planting area), in the village (close to shops), or by the river (close to... fish).
-The plot involves the Harvest Goddess, which was turned to stone. You need to find 'Happiness Tones' and give them to the Harvest Sprites so they can restore her.
-Festivals return to the pre-A Wonderful Life style.
-This game adds the pig to the list of animals you can have.
-Can use a leash for your pets.
-Fishing is in the Animal Crossing style where you can see shadows in the water.
-The town is randomly generated, and townsfolk move in and out. (like Animal Crossing)
-You are able to buy unused land.
-Can buy furniture for your house. (hey, like Animal Crossing again!)
-Your house can be painted. (Animal Crossing...)
-Time stops while inside homes again, 7 real life seconds equal 10 in game minutes.

The game looks amazing and from what I heard seems to copy all Animal Crossing's good parts and bring them to the already great universe of Harvest Moon.

This game came out in March and was hoping for something at E3, all we got was the lame sequel to a lame HM game.

Has anyone heard anything new, or for that matter anything at all about this game?

It's still on it's way here. Natsume is just a bit slow, of course, and they don't exactly make too much noise about their games. Just sit tight, they'll come through.

It better be on the way if Natsume knows whats good for them. AWL was such a let down for us HM fans. Poem definitely looks good, hopefully this fall sometime.

Natsume is slow, but they usaully say they are releasing the game at least. It takes them months to translate, and still do a bad job, but we normally know something.

I'm worried because it won't come out this year here, thats for sure, plus the Rev will come out next year and the system will be dead after Zelda.

My guess is Natsume is going to gauge the sales of Another AWL before committing to releasing Poem. I mean, AWL sold enough copies to become a player's choice so I figure the market is there atleast.

There's no need to worry. The Revolution is backward compatible with the GameCube unless Nintendo changes that.

Still they might not waste their time translating it to a system that is dead. The GBA is backwards compatible with the GB, that still doesn't change the fact that the GB is a dead system and games are no longer made for it.

I don't want to spread false rumors, but I thought I read somewhere that Poem of Happiness would be an exclusive to Playstation 2 or Playstation 3....

Which would royally blow since I don't plan on getting a PS3 and don't have a PS2.

Man, I hope I am wrong.

I do look forward to Harvest Moon DS though.

I assume they don't want to announce another Harvest Moon title for the Cube before Another Wonderful Life even comes out.. that would be tantamount to them shooting themselves in the foot.

Once AWL comes out and has been out for a month or two, THEN they will announce Poem of Happiness for US (or when sales for AWL have been maxed). This is Natsume's bread and butter and they've released almost every one (or has it been every game?) to the US - this one will make it's way here.

WHere did my post go?

I said that another AWL game is around a terrible idea and that they are shooting themselves in the foot with it anyways, so annoucing another game wouldn't be that bad.

SO it should come out here in the states before then. I'm thinking it's the same game just a different name. At least now we have a timeline to when it might come out.
