The GameCube version gets a name, and new information is revealed.
Natsume today announced that it is renaming its new GameCube Harvest Moon – previously called Song of Happiness – to Harvest Moon: Magical Melody.
The company says that this Harvest Moon will return the series to its roots, bringing back plenty of crops to harvest, farm life to raise, NPCs to chat with and other familiar features. In it, the Harvest Goddess has been turned to stone, and it’s up to players to collect 100 musical notes that will lead to magically restoring the Goddess. In addition to the traditional farming and animal-raising aspects of Magical Melody, gamers will also be able to upgrade and customize their house in a number of different ways. Moreover, they can play as either a boy or girl this time around and can choose between 10 different NPCs to marry and start a family with.
"Magical Melody has got a lot of what the Harvest Moon series has been over the last 10 years rolled into one package," said a spokesperson for Natsume.
Magical Melody is scheduled to ship this November in Japan and in March of 2006 in North America.

And some great features.....
-Big new feature is a 4 player competition mode.
-You can choose to play as a boy or a girl.
-You can choose where you wish to live at the begining of the game, at the beach (large planting area), in the village (close to shops), or by the river (close to... fish).
-The plot involves the Harvest Goddess, which was turned to stone. You need to find 'Happiness Tones' and give them to the Harvest Sprites so they can restore her.
-Festivals return to the pre-A Wonderful Life style.
-This game adds the pig to the list of animals you can have.
-Can use a leash for your pets.
-Fishing is in the Animal Crossing style where you can see shadows in the water.
-The town is randomly generated, and townsfolk move in and out. (like Animal Crossing)
-You are able to buy unused land.
-Can buy furniture for your house. (hey, like Animal Crossing again!)
-Your house can be painted. (Animal Crossing...)
-Time stops while inside homes again, 7 real life seconds equal 10 in game minutes.
The game looks amazing and from what I heard seems to copy all Animal Crossing's good parts and bring them to the already great universe of Harvest Moon.
This game came out in March and was hoping for something at E3, all we got was the lame sequel to a lame HM game.
Has anyone heard anything new, or for that matter anything at all about this game?
