Searched and didn't see anything on this. I work at Sears, and there's something called "VOM" Very Old Merchandise, that HAS to be sold by the end of the month. I went in yesterday and picked up the following:

Luigi's Mansion (Gamecube) $2.94
PS2 Network Adapter $4.99
Alias (PS2) $3.73

PS1 Games:
Crash Bash $1.97
Spyro Ripto's Rage $.94
Crash Team Racing $.94

They also had some old sports games for PS1 which were still overpriced imo at $3 - $5

And, they had Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories at $4.47.

This is VERY YMMV and most Sears stores will put this stuff right in the main aisle because they NEED to sell it before tomorrow, or it's just lost money.

Edit: Actually, I just realized that I should have added in the post that my store puts stickers on the merchandise that says VOM in black print on a white circular sticker. This might be the case in other stores as well.

Very good deals on both the Network Adapter and Luigi's Mansion.

I should check this out.

As will I. I've got a boner thinking about a 5 dollar Network Adapter.

Yeah I could give my bro a network adapter he has been wanting one, I will have to check this out...is this everywhere or just in your particular sears?

It just depends if the Sears near you still has the old merchandise. It's going to be considered old merchandise nationwide. Just matters if your store has it, found it, and put it out like they're supposed to.

Are these priced marked as such or would they need to be scanned? My experience at Sears is that most games are kept behind glass, making it difficult for price checks.

Thanks for the heads up though.

We marked ours beginning of June. Alias was like $14.97, Network adapter was like $24.97. Then Marked them down around June 25th to half of that. Then marked them down to half of that yesterday. Like I said, they HAVE to be sold today or their ridiculous systems will not allow them to sell the product, and they take a loss.

Doyle--most Sears stores with this merchandise will put it in the main aisle outside electronics to get rid of it.

Very nice. I believe I saw Luigi's Mansion and a few other very old games at my Sears. I will go check it out.

Network adapters are still being sold in most places for $25-30 that's a steal.

I imagine Wal Mart will be receiving a lot of them that some CAG's got as "gifts".

I'm too lazy to ride my bike down there to check...maybe I should call? Or if I called you think the person would snatch the network adaptor for themselves?

I am tempted to take a trip to Sears at lunchtime, but i told my wife I wasn't buying anymore games until Nintendogs comes out in August. What to do? Oh well, sorry Honey!

I'm surprised this thread got so much attention. I wasn't going to post it--didn't think it'd be good enough for CAG material...Only reason I posted it was because the EB Update didn't happen and EVERYONE was waiting around and constantly refreshing lol.

I'll probably stop by Sears at lunch too. Cheap games always get my attention.;)

Is it possible to look the stuff up? I asked the lady and she was all "Oh everything is tagged in pink if it's clearance."

this is def. YMMV since at my store the network adapter was still 24.97

I went by my local Sears. They did have a few marked clearance items ($15 games, $4 Intec PS2 controllers, $6 third party PS2 remote, etc.) but nothing like the $5 network adapter, $3 Luigi's Mansion or $1 PSone games listed above. Definitely YMMV on this one.

They're supposed to be trying to get rid of this stuff at any price today. Maybe their managers are lazier than mine. The GM in my store is a total dick and makes them do everything 100% properly, that could be the reason.

That's why its COMPLETELY YMMV.

See, the markdowns don't happen in the system, the manager of the department is supposed to come by and keep cutting the prices all month until they sell. Then override the price in the register. After today the stuff is written off and is a 100% loss to them.

so what if i went back tomorrow to try to buy the network adapter, what would the system say?

My sears said they pulled everything a couple days ago, but their wasn't any games clearanced. They did have Alias PS2 but it rang up $14.99. :(

I went to a local Sears and nothing was set out as clearance anywhere. They had 3 network adapters and as many Luigi's, but they were all in their normal places, marked full price.

YoshiFan1

I saw Network Adapters tagged and scanned for $34.97. Luigi's Mansion was $19.99 (scanned). Crash Bash also scanned $14.99.

Hrm, Maybe its certain regions only then. The network adapters scanned in our system at 14.97, tagged purposely at 4.97. Crash Bash scanned at 3.97, tagged 1.94 I believe. Maybe only certain regions get the same "VOM" reports that my store did, dunno...

I just came back from my local Sears 5 minutes ago. Alias is still $14.97, Network adapter is $24.97 and the lousiest price ever for Sega Tennis & SSX3 is $49.97 (holy crap!)

I asked the manager about SSX3 since it already went greatest hits and Sega Tennis is a 3 years old game but he knew swat about video games so.... I chuckled and left. I will come back tomorrow and see what happens. Hehe.

Glad I didn't rush out for this one, though I probably would have had I seen this earlier or not had my sister steal my car this morning.

Crap, I just got back from Sears! I can't go again, but they didn't have any clearance bin for anything. I think they had PS2 network adaptors, but they were in the case; not sure how much they were marked/scanned at. Where is your Sears at alive741?

I tried another Sears, Network Adapter was $24.97. Luigi was full price.

Chances are Sega Tennis is less than $49.97. I saw it onclearance around 2 years ago for $15 or $20 at Sears (got it at Sam Goody for $9.88 around that time).

My Sears sucks. They have cleared out of almost ALL video games. I knew something was up when I picked up Paper Mario 2 and THUG2 for $20 just before Christmas. Oh well. Only Sears in my Nashville area too.

The Network Adapter was still 24.97. =( But, I did manage to get Crash Team Racing for 3.97--- Yu-Gi-Oh was 17-something.

That's what I initially thought so I brought the game to the counter for price scan and the game did come up with a $49.97 price tag. LOL.

Same with SSX3, it also scanned at $49.97. I feel sorry for customers that get ripped off by purchasing these games.

Oh, I thought the prices were just tagged that way. That's crazy they actually think those 2 games will sell at that price

Just a note: went to another Sears in New Haven county in CT, and no luck at all; everything came up the normal price at the register. Maybe it's just your store, alive.
