According to bungie.net, some retailers have already begun selling the H2 map pack that officially streets on 7/5. They have even approved these early-birds to use the new maps on XBL. I realize this will be a huge YMMV, but does anyone know where to score one NOW. Please post if you know or have gotten it and where you saw/bought it.

If theres ever a store that sells games early its my FYE. they dont seem to care and put it out as soon as it comes in. Sometimes you have to ask them for it though. I got DOOM 3 about 4-5 days early and conker 1 day before release there.

That would be cool....I may just buy the disc at CC for $15 on release week....when are they supposed to hit stores?

Check Meijer's if you have one near you. They broke the street date for Halo 2, so I imagine they'd do the same with the map pack.

That's weird, if Bungie.net is ok with it, why dont they just put them out for purchase through XBL?

Ok, I checked my stock system at Best Buy, and there is no Hard Street Date listed. The game is supposed to be out the 5th, but it is not listed as a hard street date. The same thing happened with Battlefront last year. I picked that up about four days early. At my store it is listed as coming into stock on 7-6, but we will probably get it earlier. The thing I am worried about is that if it does not come today, we will not get it on the UPS truck untill Tuesday since the 4th is on Monday. It is YMMV, but most stores will probably put it out when they get it in.

Actually I would like a proof and a link.

Best Buy is crap about release dates, thats one of the things I remember from working there. The street date is June 5th, Bungie has said so multiple times. Stores like EB, Gamestop will have it on Tuesday morning no question. I'd also have to assume, considering that fact that its Halo 2, the other major retailers will also try to have it as early as possible.

Respond to Smalien:
Yeah I would like some practice if this were true. Plus I'm impatient, if I had a chance to snag the map pack early why wouldn't I?

On a side note, I've hit level 30, yaaaaay!

Who cares? How many days is it? Do you want to get extra practice on the maps or something!

They'll probably be more fun once you have more than 3 people to play with

I haven't been following the Halo news at all, and I've barely played since acquiring the last map pack, so I apologize for the "n00b" question. When are the enw maps supposed to be out for download, how much do they cost, and what's the difference between the disc and downloading the maps, if any?

1. Tuesday, July 5th
2. $12
3. Disc is $20 while D/L is $12. Disc = hard copy as well as some bonus content. (A short animation I believe.)

Unless Im wrong , the cheapest way to do it is if you have some friends who play with you. You just split the $20 cost between all your friends and then install the maps on each xbox. That's what im doing.

I think I read something that someway they could limit it so it is one disc per XBOX. Don't know if they put a serial number per map, and when you try to go online, it blocks you from doing so if there is more than one? Or maybe I am just talking out of my ass. And for you, your hoping the later.

Cheapest way is spliting the cost of a rental.

As to the limit of cd uses, thats incorrect, bungie has even admitted to that in previous updates (No I wont go looking for it, sorry)

Maybe that could be possible for playing the maps online, maybe. But there's no reliable way for them to do that for offline play. But they aren't going to limit them regardless. Think about it; the maps will be free by the end of summer anyways. They're going to take what they can get now, and then just give it away.

I seriously doubt rentals will be available.

That doesn't say anything about being able to rent it. BB is probably just selling it on their site. It doesn't make sense to rent the disc out. Yea, it would be popular for awhile but the maps will be free in a month or two so why waste the cash renting the disc?

Birbo
07-03-2005, 07:03 PM
Well, seeing as how the retail is $20 to but and BB charges like $7 for a game rental, I think they'd recoup pretty quickly.

Not really sure if it's for rental or not, but I'm hoping it is as I have a free game rental coupon. :)

Wouldn't it just be possible to purchase it, then "Sell" it to Gamerush?
