I am looking for at least a 30"HDTV for my Xbox and would like any suggestions as what brand would be worth getting.......I am Eyeballing a Sony 32" Hi-Scan TV at Sams Club for $870 roughly but I would like suggestions from some owners please.
I have been eyeing this set http://reviews.cnet.com/Toshiba_Cinema_Series_HD_30HFX84_TV_30/4505-6485_7-31127888.html
But the problem is it needs to go down $100-200 before I can consider it. 1000 lines ofHorizontal resolution is about 200 lines more then the cheaper HDTVs ($700-$1000 range). I can't find any good forums that talk about this set. If any one knows of any please post it.
Sorry to Hijack.

I just got the Panasonic Tau Series 30" Widesceen. http://reviews.cnet.com/Panasonic_CT_30WX15_TV_30/4505-6485_7-31418408.html?tag=pdtl-list It sells for $899 normally, but I got it for $770 at a small electronics store in town here. It's a pretty good HDTV. In my opinion, it's on par with Sonys. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a HDTV for under a grand. The picture is great on it, the only drawback is no 720p support (only 420p and 1080i). I've hooked up the consoles to it and it looks great. Even normal non HDTV analog signals look decent.

your best bet is to get a crt for that range in price. although they are bulky and heavy they offer the best quality out of all the types of tvs out now and especially at a low price .
There is a refurbished hdtv floating around the site that has been recommended by a few CAGs here . http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46226
you might wanna look into finding a crt that will be able to upconvert 720p into 1080i. Alot of CRTs cant do this as they dont support 720p resosolution (its something CRTs cant display at all but lcds, plasmas,Lcos, and DLPs can display ). They would upconvert the signal. I have only read about the sony models upconverting the picture dunno about anyother brand.
I have this tv it cost me 800 with no tax and free shipping (not from crutchfield )

its freakin heavy but it was well worth the money Iv spent.
I have read on consumer reports that mostly all of sony wega brand of CRT HDTVs are rated very good and reliable.
