ping ebay.com

tracert works as well, I"m sure there are non dos prompt ways but I like dos =P

Go to start run and type cmd or just open up the command prompt. Then type ping www.whateveryouarelookingfor.com and it will spit it back. That may not work, but you can do it at home and write the numbers down!
