View Full Version : Anything to clean an SNES?

Didn't know which forum to post under, if this is wrong forum feel free to move it.


My bro took out his SNES and said it doesn't work or it just flickers or something i'm not quite sure of and he says the machine might be dirty since it hasn't been used in ages. Is there anything you can use to clean the machine or does anyone know what tool to use to open it with? I'm not sure what type of tool is needed but its not a 4head or philips.

Not coming from experience with a SNES here.. but Nintendo tends to use a "tri-wing" screwdriver. Try searching on google or ebay and you'll find them.

You can try this method if you're looking for a quick fix:

get a plastic bic pen and take out the ink core.
use a lighter to soften the plastic but don't burn it, go slow.
when it's nice and pliable,
jam it into the head of the bit and let it cool completly. when it cools it will form into the shape of the screwhead and you can use it untill it breaks. it
doesn't usually last long. the bic pen method is more for desparate measures.

If cleaning it doesn't work then you might need a new pin connector for it. But if it has been taken care off it shouldn't need anything more than a good cleaning.
