I live near Lancaster, PA. I hate most of the people here, a lot of them seem to think that the South won the Civil War, and that fake testicles hanging from their truck are cool. I love the license plates of the Conferate Flag that have an Eagle on them and the words "God Bless The USA", nothing at all contradictory about that you jackasses. Travelling thru Columbia I actually say a low-rider truck that had a sticker on the back saying "Too low for fat hoes", disgusting enviroment. Good amount of game stores though, can't complain about that.

Where are there game stores in Lancaster? I've been going there every year for the past 10 years on vacation, but have yet to find one. Generally when i go, I'm around the Willow Valley Resort, and generally venture as far as 30-40 miles.

In Lancaster there are currently 2 Gamestops, 3 EB's, a Circuit City, & 2 Wal-marts, there used to be a cool privately owned game shop but that closed down. I guess there are more games stores in a 30 miles radius from where I actually live since that would include York and Harrisburg. Still you can often find something worth searching for at at least one of the stores. And I agree with the Lebanon comment, especially the city. I travel up there 2-3 times a week to play the Pokemon TCG and Star Wars CMG, and that city is a dump. And whatever idiot decided to build a train going through a city is the worst of the bunch. There is a decent store around there, I think it's technically in Leola but I'm not sure. I know it's off of route 422, anyway the store is called Game Traders and they still carry old games (Game boy, some NES, Genesis, SNES, 64, PSone, and the current stuff). Some of their old games are complete and they usually have decent prices (akin to ebay's prices, but minus the shipping).

hinkbert

The EB at the crap-tastic Lebanon Valley Mall also has the most idiotic employees too. The nice thing is they hardly ever mark things down or have up current sale info displayed correctly. So if you know what a sale is already (probably from viewing this site) you can often find cheap items.

York... ghetto? I lived just outside York (in a little town called Mount Wolf) for 20+ years. Aside from the rough spots within the small city itself, the area and it's suburbs are hardly ghetto by any strech of the imagination. All in all, it's pretty tame and quiet around here. 99% percent of time, the only way to find trouble is if you actively go looking to find/start trouble.

For those in the southeast....I was at the TRU in Exton, PA about around 11am today for the $10 clearance sale and found out they have a few 360's in stock for anyone interested. I personally didn't purchase one as I'm waiting for the PS3. They had gotten 7 of them in and sold 2 while I was there. They are selling them as a bundle for either $600 or $650 (not sure if basic or premium, but I think I saw the premium white box if that helps). I should also note that they still had the "out of stock" sign up, so people may not realize they have them. Ready, set, run!

TRU update for those in the York/Harrisburg area:

The TRU by Capital City Mall still had a decent amount of games left this morning, but it could be picked over by now. Two guys with a list from CAG (I assume) got a bunch of games, and I bought a few, as well. I know for certain Pikmin 2, DDS, and Four Swords are sold out, as is Winning Eleven 8 on the PS2.

I picked up FF 1&2, VJ2 (GC), Doom 3, Fight Night 2 (GC).

At the TRU by the Harrisburg Mall, they had no games sitting out and most of the slips had not been updated (except for Tekken 5, which was tagged at $9.98). No DDS in stock, but most everything else seemed to be available as of 11am.

From there, I got Bard's Tale (PS2), WE8, and Four Swords.

I live in Lancaster city proper, and you must be refering to the people from outlying areas, like Quarryville and Ronks. Those folks are generally redneckalicious, but the people in the city aren't bad at all.

We truly do have a large number of game stores though! I usually go to the EB at the shopping center with the new Wal-mart on Fruitville, they have a good selection of new and used games and actually knowledgable staff.

Yeah the people who live in the city are pretty normal, but the smaller towns in the county have some pretty stupid jackasses. I live in Maytown, and Marietta and Columbia are down the street from me, and let me tell you they have some real "winners" there.

That EB on Fruitville pike is pretty good, I went there a lot recently to pick up old NES games 1/2 off. The TRU is usually pretty good when those large clearances happen. It's too bad that shopping can be a pain though because of the crappy, congested roads around Lancaster.

Ah, great store for back when EB still had classics for sale -- the manager hooked me up with some rare cartridge games, and I've since run into him twice in Exton, more than a 1/2 hour away. Of course, I also had a horrible horrible experience there where a clerk flipped his lid when I tried to return an ebgames.com purchase. (Seriously, I thought he was gonna have an aneurysm.) The other clerks I've met there have all been very friendly and well-socialized -- I'll just assume you're one of them. 8)

Also, anyone ever go to the King Of Prussia mall? I'm there pretty often. Not only do I think it is the second biggest mall in the nation, but I'm pretty sure the EB that's there is the first EB ever.

I'm from Upper Darby. If i'm thinking of the same store he is, its called "Preplayed." On Baltimore Pike in Springfield directly across from the old I.Goldberg building...about a block down from the U.D. Home Depot. They also have a good amount of used cds.

Bethlehem, PA here. I'm sure there's a healthy amount of gamers out here, it's hard to find them. Aside from the clerks @ various stores like GameCrazy/EBGames/Etc, all I ever see shopping in game stores are moms and dad's whose kids drag them into the store :(

Scranton, PA CAG here. Although, I do tend to 'invade' other areas for copies of the newer penny guides and what not.

I don't know WHO around here keeps cleaning out the Best Buy and TRU stores of good, cheap games and guides, but its kind of annoying at times.

Although, I know the Wilkes-Barre Best Buy kept getting 'hit' from the one clerk there, who was Ebaying the penny guides.

Anyway, just thought I'd check in. If there's any CAGs in the area who maybe wanna hit up another area for stuff sometime soon, give me a PM, we'll make a run.

I'm a part time PA CAG since I'm in Grove City for college. I am SOL when it comes to game stores, because the Gamestop up at the outlet malls is gone, and the walmart is crappy. It doesn't even have play and charge kits for the 360.

I live in a small borough called weatherly. Basically it is in the middle of nowhere, but at the same time I am within a hour and a half from major places.
My clostest place is Hazleton (don't go there for games, the only rare games I found there were call of cthulhu ($20 new at gamestop for x-box and they had a few copies left when I got mine bout a month ago). As of other games, there is limited quanities of good games (if you mean Dreamcast or older forget it).

As of these next places I can't comment on the deals.

My next closest place is wilkes-barre pa (which is about half a hour). I don't go there often so I don't know how good the deals are.

I live about 45 minutes from pottsville (there is a EB games in the mall at frackville) then again that is like twice a year I go there.

I live about over a hour from whitehall or allentown (although I never go there).

I go to college in bloomsburg (which is about an hour and a half), strangely enough I haven't been in the EB games or Gamestop there because I don't have a car on campus, but if I did...

Monroeville Mall has FYE, EBGames, Gamestop, Best Buy across the street. Where the bowling alley is near Miracle Mile, there is a Record Exchange (great place for used games). Also there is another Gamestop and CD Warehouse in another Plaza close to the mall... Across from Lowes is Circuit City... and above Lowes is CompUSA..

Anyone know of any Pittsburgh area Gamestop/eb's that are doing a midnight Wii release tomorrow? Sounds cool. :)

I got to Target in Oaks at 5:45 AM and there was a healthy line. They had 60 total. I turned out to be #32. I think they only had to turn 1 person away that was already lined up when they gave out the tickets @ 7:15 AM. They were also giving out information sheets with a list of all of the games that they had available. 4 of them they had not received, but were taking names from folks lined up for the Wii and if you wanted a title they would call you and reserve it when it came in since you waited outside. They were doing the sweet deal with a $20 GiftCard with the purchase of 3 titles. I picked up 4 games, 2 points cards and the system. They didn't have any Trauma center, so I shot over to BestBuy, passing TRU on the way with them still lined up for a 10:00 AM (?) open, and headed to BestBuy where the last Wiiers were coming out with their beloved consoles in hand. Picked up Trauma center with a Gamer's Gift Card and I'm fairly set now. I'll be Wiiing hopefully starting Wednesday night. :)

I am used to companies requiring dinner with the candidates the evening before the interview, but it doesn't seem to be the case with this interview. Touristy stuff to do within walking distance (or by mass transit) when you're in one of the hotels within a mile of the KOP mall....ummm.....no, I'm afraid I'm drawing a blank. Methinks you will be joining the holiday shoppers at the mall (which I personally consider rather overrated.)

I can't think of too many places nearby that offer anything fun to do, really. The mall draws too many of the consumer dollars around here. Out of curiosity, which company in our lovely KOP area is it, that you interviewed with?

It's certainly not as crowded as it is in the summer, but there are still a lot of visitors. I actually prefer going in the wintertime; it's so peaceful. The cold also gives you a real appreciation for the troops who spent the winter there.

If you visit during the winter, be sure to stop in to the cabin gift shop near the Washington Memorial Chapel. They usually have free hot apple cider available in cold weather. :)

For those within driving distance of the route 30 and 48 (North Versailles - check store locater) KMART, there were still tons of games there, both in the PDQ (2 of them- full) display and in the cage.

I mainly looked at the PS2 stuff, but there were A LOT of games there for other systems.

I grabbed the last Ape Escape3 and a Metal Slug 4/5 (one left) for $14 +tax together.

The KMART in Monroeville still has some games in the PDQ and a FULL rack right next next to the electronics counter, although it seemed a fair amount of the PS2 stuff was gone.

FYI - I've checked for most of the "pennied" games - none found.

My friends and I have it down to a science as to where to park, which stores to hit first, etc. Makes trips there a lot easier.

I actually posted where I'm from once in here already, I think. But, for the newbies, I'm from up in Scranton.

I was wondering if anyone on this thread ever went to the flea market in Eynon, PA, as the one stand(they have more like a bric a brac and health and beauty related stuff) has copies of Sonic 2 for Game Gear for either $1 or $2 up there.

I tried to get a stand up there selling guides when I was majorly guide hoarding, but the owner wouldn't lemme sell ANY type of games(mainly because I could undercut his main game seller at the time by MAJOR amounts).

I still have buttloads of guides and a new 'sale' up on my TL. Check it out and let me know guys....also lemme know if any of you want to hit up some out of the way stores sometime, as I'd be up for a road trip to find some good deals.

Yeah, I've only lived here a few years and I want to leave. My wife grew up here, so that's how we ended up back in this shit hole of a town.

This town is great if you're a religious alcoholic, since that's pretty all there is. Churches and bars all in close proximity to one another.

I live about 40 minutes away from Lock Haven and can't really think of much they have in terms of shopping for video games within 5-20 miles. Your probably right about having to go to State College to find a decent number of stores with video games.

Does anyone live in/near the area of Limerick, PA? To be more specific, does anyone live within a 10 mile radius of the Limerick nuclear power plant? Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove, East Coventry, Royersford, Schwenksville, Perkiomen, Collegeville..?

I am wavering over the notion of moving to Lower Pottsgrove/Collegeville, and with any luck, someone from the region will be able to tell me of positive/negative aspects of living there.

I rented an apartment in Phoenixville for a couple years before buying a home outside of Pottstown. I would have liked to have found a place around Royersford, but that area is just too high priced for me.

The biggest thing I would have to suggest that you may or may not have considered would be traffic. Route 422 sucks at rush hour. Try to find a place to live where you can avoid 422 and still have a decent commute to work. In general terms, housing prices drop the further north and west you go from King of Prussia. So Lower Pottsgrove is probably going to be cheaper than Collegeville. In my opinion though, Collegeville is a nicer area than Pottsgrove and probably has a better school district (caveat: I have no children and am basing my school impressions on other peoples' comments). Do you have a job lined up and if so in what town? Let me know if there's anything else specific you want to know.

I'm in King of Prussia right now (renting an apartment.) I work at West Point, PA (that's due North of Norristown & a bit off to the West.) So, of two places I am contemplating, one is a place in Lower Pottsgrove (about 1 mile away from that huge nuclear reactor...yikes!) and a place in Collegeville which falls within the 10mile radius of the plant if you draw a straight line, but >10mi if you measure by roads.)

Either way, my commute would be by local roads (and would increase from my current 30min up to 45-50min for Lower Pottsgrove and stay about the same for Collegeville.) I won't be joining the happy crowds who crawl along 422 toward the 76/476 junction...however, I am wary of living close (either right beside or even 10 miles away from) a nuclear power plant.

Any other insights, folks? I don't have too much invested in the quantity/quality of nearby Wawa's (heh!) and traffic/commute has been a sticking point with me, in considering a new place to live.

[Thanks for the input, David. It's me: Michael.]

RBM: Collegeville is a very nice place... many of the people I worked with when I was at GSK lived in Collegeville. They mostly lived closer to Ursinus college. I agree with you those cooling towers are creepy.

I can confirm this for Pittsburgh CAGS and I have to assume it's safe for Philly area cags as well....

The entertainment book for the Pittsburgh region has four $10 off gameplay at Dave and Buster's coupons. The first coupon would be expired already as they are something akin to valid dates: 11/07-1/08, 2/08-4/08, etc etc...

If you're in Dave and Busters in Pittsburgh, and see a tall guy using his cell phone to figure out the whipping points in the Derby Owner's Club, don't say hi, just laugh and keep walking.

I have some friends that live in Pottstown and they're okay with it. They got a good deal on the house, but aren't so down with living in a fairly conservative area. I have a friend from college that grew up in Clarks Summit, though he lives in Pittsburgh now. I love wawa, but what does Sheetz have that wawa doesn't? As far as I remember (from penn state) they are basically the same thing. Wawa has 24 hour hoagies/cheesesteaks/chicken sandwiches. Sheetz does the same, right?

^^^i got to agree with that. i do most of my shopping there since i'm right on the border between the 2 states.

btw do you shop up at the Big K-mart there at the Tri-State mall? i havent been there in a while, but i see clearance threads for apparantly the whole nationwide chain, and each time i drive by i see the clearance banner, but ignore it since there clearance sales are usually not worth it when it comes to games.

i been there before as well. small, but has a pretty decent selection of retro and some new games and consoles alike. as for the name of the place.....i got no idea off the top of my head. as for shopping there......one thing you should know is that Booths Corner is only open on friday and saturdays each week. any other day is practically a waste of gas. other than games the center has other little shops worth checking out as well. some may as well be junk stores, while others are like novelty shops, then you also got the amish section where you will fresh baked breads and all kinds of other stuff, and if you're into jerky of any kind then there's a little shop that has a few blends of beef jerky, and from time to time even has deer jerky. makes going for games worth it. at least for me as you cant normally find deer jerky anywhere else.
