hey all...

hope im not beating a dead horse here, but here is my question...

just got an 80gb hd, along with HDAdvance 1.0 ...formatted the drive fine, first game i ripped to it was socom II...the game plays fine in single player, but i try to go online, and it doesnt recognize my network adapter...i have been reading a lot about hame patching and such, but i dont think there is a new patch out there to get past the latest DNAS authorization, is there?

basically, i just wanna download the new maps that are out there, and be able to play them online. can this be done?

also, can someone give me a quick, tell-me-like-i-am-five-years-old rundown of how patching works? im guessing you rip the game to the hard drive while its in your computer, then modify the .iso file ON the hard drive?

thanks in advance to all who help

The only new maps to come out are only availabe with the OPM magazine disc they never had maps that you could download off the server that i know of

Ok, AFAIK there is no way to bypass the DNAS scan using a Hdded Socom. Nor any other SCEA game for that matter. So i hope you kept your disc. Also, the new maps are dled online i believe on the main SOCOM server, Though i'm not sure. PAtching is basically tweaking the already working code to fix broken strings or include new things. Imagine a pair of pants. They rip, IT causes a glitch in the game. A patch is released to seal that rip. The patch also makes your pants more fashionable, in the sense of being able to do new things (i.e new guns, levels etc etc.)
