WASHINGTON - Senate Democrats on Wednesday called for an investigation into allegations that Halliburton Co. served food that had passed its expiration date by as much as a year to U.S. troops in Iraq.
Rory Mayberry, a former food production manager for Halliburton subsidiary KBR, told lawmakers last month that when outdated food arrived, "we were told by KBR food service mangers to use these items anyway."
He also said food packages damaged in insurgent attacks were still used "after removing the bullets and any shrapnel from the bad food that was hit."
In a letter to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, 28 Democrats called for a formal probe, noting: "We trust you will find this testimony as alarming as we do."

"We trust you will find this testimony as alarming as we do." -- yeah, that'll happen.

Actually, that's not the really fun part. The fun part is, despite having served soldiers spoiled food and having hundreds of millions of dollars unaccounted for, the US Army just gave Halliburton another 5 billion dollar contract (http://www.detnews.com/2005/nation/0507/07/A03-240209.htm). Because, hey, they've ripped us off repeatedly in the past, so what are the odds they'll do it again?

I hope this story will provoke bipartisan outrage, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Somehow Democrats will get accused of not supporting the troops or being anti-American over this.

1. They are allegations.
2. Considering how many wackos hate bush, cheney, haliburton this is probably a lie or an exageration
3. I find it funny how democrats are constantly demonizing our troops yet are quick to complain when they supposedly get spoiled food. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that Haliburton is involved.

Wow, PAD and Scrubking are defending a multibillion dollar corporation that is serving spoiled and contaminated food to the troops to save a few thousand dollars.
If that isn't anti-American or opposing our troops, I don't know what is.

There appears to be a million-dollar market available. Since Scrub seems to think that a company whose liability is only to the almighty shareholders and profit would disregard its two highest priorites and only serve only "the freshest ingredients," I think that its time liberals armed themselves with stupid fucking automobile ribbon magnets.
"Feed the troops" they can say. I just don't know which color to choose.
You know what, dipshits? KBR's background is not only in feeding the military. They feed all of our inmates, too. Do you think that what our soldiers get is going to be any better than our inmates? If so, you obviously don't know much about capitalism.
Although, to be fair, I doubt our soldiers are eating prison loaf:http://www.npr.org/programs/wesat/features/2002/apr/loaf/

You'd think that PAD, Scrub and the like would be screaming for KBR's corporate heads, since they clearly exist to exploit our troops, our government, and our military as forced consumers to whatever tripe they feel content to sell.
Also, in my previous post, I should point out that the recipe in the slate article is the most "civilian-sanitized" prison loaf recipe out there. It usually involves expired derivatives of the ingredients plus "mystery meat." And you thought school food was bad...

V * NEW LOW!
A New low has been hit folks. It's sad that it's always the dollar and not the cause we're fighting for that wins every time. :(

If it's true, it's very sad.
For the money we're spending, and the job their doing, We should be buying those guys steaks. It's the least we could do for them.
I also wonder what type of foods were "spoiled". Also, if I'm a soldier, and someone tried to pass me some spoiled food...I'd simply instruct the civilian to get me something different.
