I'm considering buying this game ('cause it's cheap ya know) but I know nothing about it.

I hear it's a card battling game...and I'm ok with that because I've never played one and I got a kick out of Inyasuha on adultswim.com. I know it's not the same thing, but that style of play was amusing to me.

What I want to know is, having no real knowledge of card battle style games...will I be able to play this?

Also, I only get about an hour a day to play games...can I pick up and play this and hour at a time? Or will I find myself lost doing it that way?

I enjoyed the game, but never quite finished it. Got about 40 hours in, and stopped playing.
Its not so much a card battler, as an RPG with cards as weapons, items, etc.

As far as getting into it, its a bit slow at the beginning, so you may lose interest with only an hour play occasionally.

I still would recommend getting it, since it can be found for $20 or so.

I've played for five hours now, and I'm hooked.
Agreed, it's not strictly a card game but I do enjoy the mechanic.
This is recommended, especially for a ten spot.

im not a big RPG'er and i love this game. i find myself getting sucked in for an hour or two at a time. i think the card system gives you a bit more control over the turn-based combat as you get a chance to defend instead of sit there and take the damage. over all though, id say it would be worth your money.

The battle system seems a little overwhelming on paper, but it's actually pretty easy to grasp. It really doesn't deviate as far from a "traditional" RPG battle system as you'd think--with the card setup, you have more customization, a little more depth, and some added frustration.
The story and characters are some of the worst I've ever encountered, but the game looks really nice.
I've had the game since launch, but my RPG backlog holds some pretty serious titles, so I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to finishing it. Point: there are stacks of much better RPGs around, so unless you're a big role-player or don't own a PS2, you may want to look elsewhere.

i dont like card system games but this one is awesome. i love this game, if i only didnt lose my 40 hour save into it i would have finished it. great game, i suggest you pick one up worth the 20 i bought it for.

I loved it... it doesn't require intense leveling up as long as you grasp the card system and use combos to increase your damage. The story line was kinda meh, but I loved the visuals and the characters (Mizuti is truly a one of a kind character). I hope they still decide to come out with a DS Baten Kaitos.

This game also has an amazing soundtrack.

I'm a fan of the game. The graphics are quite nice, the music is good, the battle system is close to the standard but has enough variety to remain interesting, and the story isn't too atrocious.
