Has anyone watched the trailers for these games? I saw them on the Nintendo Power DVD....and they definitely look interesting. Anyone know anything about these?

Both games look good on GC. Also, don't forget Inu Yasha, Cowboy Bebop on PS2 ;)

They look like no-depth fighters trying to make some money on the massive craze of two anime franchises.

I learned my lesson with Shaman King and Astro Boy on the PS2.

One piece was being compared to Powerstone....that sparked my interest. I doubt it will be as good though.

I got to play Zatch Bell at E3 in this little competition they had at the Bandai booth. It was alright. It had a very weird control scheme that used two buttons for attacks, one for guard(all face buttons except the triangle button) and then the left analog stick for movement. Too simplified for my tastes, but it looked nice.

I know they're both very similar fighters, same engine and controls I believe. I've heard they're better than the DBZ games, which would be nice, I've played them once and didn't care for them at all, so it was easy to pass them up at $5.

I've read mostly about one piece, it's supposed to have 16 pirates and 32 "helper" characters, which sounds like a decent amount. There are at least 7 interactive environments with objects you can pick up and throw. And supposedly there are a ton of unlockables from characters, stages and small things "fans of the property would appreciate" whatever that means.

YO!
Yah-yo, yah-yo!
Dreaming! (Don't give it up, Luffy!)
Dreaming! (Don't give it up, Zolo!)
Dreaming! (Don't give it up, Nami!)
Dreaming! (Don't give it, give it up, give it up, give it up, give it up, give it-- NO!)
Here's how the story goes, we find out
Bout a treasure in the Grand Line, there's no doubt
The Pirate whose eye is on it, he'll sing,
"I'll be King of the Pirates, I'm gonna be King!"
Yah-yo, yah-yo, yah-yo, oh-oh!
His name is Luffy
(That's Monkey D. Luffy)
(He'll be King of the Pirates!)
He's made of rubber (How did that happen?)
Yo-ho-ho, he took a bite of Gum-Gum Yah-yo, yah-yo!
His name's Zolo, he's just like a samurai
And a L-A-D-Y Nami's not shy
The Pirate Crew comin' through doin' their thing
With the King of the Pirates, he's gonna be King!
Yah-yo, yah-yo, yah-yo, oh-oh!
Set sail for One Piece, it's the name of the treasure
In the Grand Line
Yah-yo, yah-yo
Set sail for One Piece!

Better than the Budokai series? I seriously doubt that as Budokai 3 and Tenkaichi are damn good fighters and Zatch Bell didn't come close from the demo. I guessing it's not those fighters as I've never seen them at $5, so what DBZ games are you talking about?

They've had Budokai 1 for $5 at several places, Sears and Amazon, maybe a few others. I played Budokai 1 and 2, the ps2 versions with my 12 year old cousin who likes dbz. He liked 2 because of some weird fused characters they made up, I thought it was just eh at best game wise. I haven't played the 3rd, so I can't give an honest opinion, so I'm going by the 1st 2.

And please, I heard the 4kids theme song for one piece once, and seeing the lyrics is just as painful.

Anything coming from bandai thats anime based is just for fans only other wise your going to think it's going to suck ass, or it's "meh" alright. I've yet to play a game from bandai that's from an Anime that I've liked just based on the gameplay, but have friends that love and adore some of there anime games, why? Because there fans of the show. That said, I'm looking forward to Bebop, when and if, it ever releases.
