Is Ikaruga worth $25?

I found it at a local store yesterday. I was really tempted by it, but it turned out that I didn't have enough money with me at the time. I don't have a gamecube at the moment, but if I don't get this now, I probably won't ever play it. I don't really have a lot to trade so I don't know if I could do that. I got a bunch of guides and an extra copy of ZOE2.

I believe ZOE 2 is much sought after in some parts of the country. As of Ikagura, I got it just to support Treasure, I mean, it takes guts for a company to release a game like this on a current gen system. Besides, it's a pretty damn good shoot-em-up if you like these kinds of games.

I bought Ikaruga at full price when it came out and it was worth every penny. It's a great game if you like space shooters.

If you like shooters then you'll love this game. Be prepared for a hard game, that's fairly short level wise. However, to get to the last stage takes lots of practice and time. I got it a couple of months ago at my local GS and I couldn't be any happier.

don't buy it just because it may be difficult to find, because it is doubtful you would get into and then just end up regretting the purchase. But if you really like the genre, it is easily one of the best examples of how to do it right.

I was wanting to pick it up because I like to have a few challenging games in my collection. Most of my games are RPGs, so it's good to have something different. I'm also not the best at that genre. I still need to beat einhander, which is pretty neat. The reason I'm asking is $25 is alot for my right now, but it is the first time I've seen that game in awhile.

Very challenging, but fun game. I see the game from time to time for $20 (used) -$25 (new). I, like everyone else, do recommend getting it if you have any interest in shooters though.

If for some reason you hate it you should be able to sell it for about $20. So a few dollars to try out this game isnt too bad.

It's pretty easy to find on the net and in stores in my area, anyways. It's worth 25, but it's a hard game, you actually need have to skill to play this game. It's the old school Bust out your jolt cola and start remembering where the ships are going to come out, patterns, old school shooter with a hint of current gen graphics. I loved it, if you like old shooters, like R-Type, Raiden, ect. your gonig to love it.

I found the game to be insanely difficult, hence why I no longer own it, but by no means a bad game

It's a lot of fun w/ 2 players, as you keep pushing each other around the screen unintentionally since you're both trying to stay alive

Very true.

It's extremely difficult, but not cheap by any means. Every time you die, it's your own fault, which I think makes the game a blast to play and figure out. It almost feels like playing a puzzle game, especially since you don't need to shoot a single ship to beat the game.

Totally awesome. We need more games like this (which is why I worship The Behemoth for bringing us Alien Hominid, and give the finger to SNK for unlimited continues in Metal Slug 4/5/Advance). Buy or die, buddy!

Like Egg, I bought this at full price, the day it came out. I've never once regretted it. It's a tough game that requires practice, but if you have any interest at all in the shooter genre, you owe it to yourself to buy it.

i normally dont like these kind of games due to the fact that i seem to get sick of them fast, but imo a very well done game with more depth than your typically space shooter and super slick graphics. Not a bad purchase for 25 and if you hang on to it for a while you will probably be able to at least make your money back on it.

Oh, I guess you guys didn't notice, and I didn't either until I checked it, but Ikaruga is selling for around $30-$45 on eBay for a used copy, and around $45-$50 for a new copy. This is what I saw about week ago, so I'm guessiong it's still the same. My cousin has it, and though I'm not big into the genre, it was good. You can dump it off on eBay whenever you want for more than $25, unless the price drops for some reason.

It's awesome. I'm not that good at it though; the farthest I've gotten with one credit is level 3. Usually I limit myself to 3 or 5 credits.

I'd pay $50 for it if I could. Wait......I did. For the Dreamcast. Its totally worth whatever you can get it at, but for $20-$25 its a steal. :)

Hahaha.... nice try. But I think all this talk has made me interested in making the 10 mile drive to the Gamestop that shows it in stock for 24.99. How late are they open on Sundays?

Edit: And now I own a near-mint copy of Ikaruga for 24.99 - 10%. Alleviates much of my trepidation towards buying from GameStop.

thats funny...i just picked up a Ikaruga at Ebgames for $24.99 which equaled out to $22.49 with no tax since i used credit....they had just gotten it in yesterday and the disc looked new and well taken care of (or hardly played;) )...

Haha, nice, and coincidental. I didn't score the no-tax, but apparently tax in Willoughby is 1.25% less than here. So I saved 28 cents that way! I just popped it in for ten minutes, and I can tell I'm gonna like it. I'm gonna suck at it, surely, but I never really got frustrated with shooters like this (i.e. one of my favorite NES games is 1942).

I'm shocked that I'm the first person that would recommend picking up Gradius V over Ikaruga if you don't have it already - it's probably cheaper and I found it to be much more enjoyable

I love the genre and have been wanting to play this for what seems like forever. That said, it appears to be going for about $40-100, new & used at Amazon currently. While at Ebay it might start low, but used copies have been going up pretty high too. I don't know about anyone else, but $30+ for used isn't worth it when for slightly more you can get a new copy...

Anyway, today I found a sealed copy for a "Buy it Now" price of $59.95. That is not that much more than most of the other newer games are priced at, so I decided to buy it while I have the chance. Would have liked a better deal, but what can you do! :D

Can't wait to play it! ;)
