Hey guys... we got the bad news today :( . This is the full list of KB Toys that are closing. Between now and February 11th, Inventory Closing Sales SHOULD be starting at these stores. From first hand experience, one that closed around here went up to 90% off selected games, i could have gotten Metroid Prime for 3.59 new. Definitly look around at these places and keep calling to see if/when the sales are starting. The stores will only be open for another month or so.

SALES MOST LIKELY WONT BE ANNOUNCED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS!" Thanks daphatty :)

We sold out the inventories to a liquidator, so the sales should be sweet... and cheap ass :D Enjoy guys.
:P

Mine's closing, which sucks..

Anyone know when sales would begin? I was just there the other day - I guess their video game section wasn't the most up to date. Maybe they knew it was coming?

Also - wouldn't KB take most of the expensive items (a la video games) and just keep shipping to other stores staying open?I would think they'd save more $$ doing it that way?

They sold ALL of these stores to liquidators, which means teh stock is no longer KBs. I know that the one in my district did not send away any of its stock. Its all still there.

Employees were just told yesterday, liquidators fully take control tomorrow, January 29th.

What is the minimal percentage taken off at one of these stores?

jt2k3
01-28-2004, 10:59 PM
When the store in my district closed, it started at 50% off.

HOwever, that was KB closing it. I cant speak for the liquidator.

Man both KB Toys where I live is closed. Maybe before or after work I would check something out since I have to pick up my new copy of UC since my old one is stuck inside my old Xbox. Don't worry, I would get the newer copy for free. ;)

I just hope that there would be some killer deals at both KB's.

Shame thought that an ex-coworker of mine is loosing a job, and she is preaty cool too.

Sadly none near me are closing, but then again from the way some of them treated their jobs you'd think they wanted their store to close.

But I do feel sad for the ones that still need their jobs, being unemployed myself.

Quick update guys:

More stores will be added to this list in the next week. There are several stores that are "on teh bubble", and if KB decides they have to go, they have to go.

My local KB is closing :( Another good store is leaving that mall. First they kicked out the arcade after it was in the mall for 16 years (their lease was up and the mall was remodeled and management felt an arcade "didn't fit in" with the new mall image), now KB is closing. Going to the mall is getting less and less fun with the few stores I actually go to closing down.

Yay and boo hoo because there is one near me closing. luckily I have a closer one in a mall not closing

As has been said I hope this doesn't affect you directly JT. I was a manager at a K-Mart that closed a year ago. Even though they weren't my future it was still a hard situation.

There's 3 Kay Bees within 25 min. of me so I guess I'll check a couple tommorrow. Thanks.

I have close to $27, and I just won a brand new factory sealed copy of Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram for the Dreamcast! Yesterday on eBay, for $23 shipping included. I wanted that game for a long time, now I regret winning the auction! Maybe I can borrow money from someone and go to the nearest KB Toys, which is 45 minutes away and see what Xbox deals they have... :D

Don't expect any amazing deals right away people...

When a liquidator takes over, they start with a 10-20% discount, it lasts about 2 weeks, then they go to 30%....40%. The sales won't start at 50% with a liquidator. And by the time it DOES reach 50%, the stores will be pretty empty.

ANd have SOME tact, no matter how much the jobs pays, these are people who will be losing a source of income...i think that's a bit more important than getting 20% off a game.

I remember getting a Job a "SILO" an electronics store like circuit city (I still think it was their fault). 2 week later a liquidator took over and we were all offered to work for them until the store closed. but then the top guy came in and said they were shipping all of our inventory to another store. It was ok though, that store was actually closer to my house. they started of at 20%. I kept everything I wanted in the back of the store on the highest shelf where nobody could see it untill everything went to 85% I got a pair of bose speakers for $150 you know, the $1000 ones! hahaha!
Sorry guys who are losing out on your jobs. just get some good deals while you're still there.

Anyone visiting KB's, let us know what you find in terms of inventory and price. Don't be afraid to ask "What's the discount you're currently offering?" I wonder how long it'll take for a 50% off deal to hit. Also, will this be ontop of the $9.99-$19.99 sale?

My apoligees to anyone losing their job...

01-29-2004, 09:45 AM
Yeah, I stood in line at one of those Silo closings. Biggest waste of time in my life. The one I went to everybody must have had the good stuff on the top shelf too. Or else it was one of the ones they cleaned out the night before the clearance.

He can fix the economy all he likes, but bad marketing, lying, stealing upper management types and overall stuuberness to leave 1980 are what have helped kill/injure these companies.

And please remember that the people you'll be trying to get deals from these stores are on thier last nerve, and having people get in thier face would not be in anyones best interest. I remember closing down the K-mart i worked at...God...People are freakin cruel.

The liquidators get the stores today. They go in, see what the can salvage, see what sold where. and then, yes, within 30-90 days (or sooner) they will start putting up clearance signs and going through the paces. Employees need to be notified a certain amount of time ahead of time legally, so it shouldnt be instatanious

The KB store in the Kings Plaza Mall in Brooklyn said that they are having a 20% off sale right now, but only on select video games, not any new ones. They said after a few weeks there will be a higher percentage off. I'll wait until about 40%-50% to see what video games are left.

I agree.

Please know what you are talking about when you begin to speak of the economy of the nation, and passing the blame of that economy on to someone who inherited it and is now trying to fix it. Things don't happen overnight when you are talking about an economy in the trillions. It's not like trying to decide whether or not you should buy a steak this week on the $200 you make. It takes time and effort, and a lot of patience to fix an economy that was hurt due to many factors. And if you don't like the tax refund you got, please donate it to charity where someone will appreciate it.

Regardless, you were just copying what some liberal posted on some website somewhere and not thinking for yourself. Hence, the idiot remark. I could have used ignorant as well, I suppose.

I agree.

Please know what you are talking about when you begin to speak of the economy of the nation, and passing the blame of that economy on to someone who inherited it and is now trying to fix it.

Oh boy, here we go again. The blame about the economy on Clinton. Just like how Bush Sr. laid out the foundation for the econonmy for Clinton, right? I love how republicans refuse to acknowledge that Clinton and his staff played a major role in influencing the economy during the 90s. Fact is, Clinton was a great president, as was evident with our flourishing economy during the 90s. Just as Reagan was a great president with winning the Cold War. The Bushes ... their legacy is tarnished with the speculation that their own interests, along with other corporate interests, lead to their decisions. Bush Sr. has a huge stake in the oil industry. Cheney's corporation won most of the post-war reconstruction projects. Coincidences?

Things don't happen overnight when you are talking about an economy in the trillions. It's not like trying to decide whether or not you should buy a steak this week on the $200 you make. It takes time and effort, and a lot of patience to fix an economy that was hurt due to many factors.

I agree. But 4 years wasn't enough? This is the longest economic drought since before World War II. I'm no Einstein, but perhaps his economic policies aren't working?

And if you don't like the tax refund you got, please donate it to charity where someone will appreciate it.

I actually didn't qualify for the refund.

Regardless, you were just copying what some liberal posted on some website somewhere and not thinking for yourself. Hence, the idiot remark. I could have used ignorant as well, I suppose.

No, these are my own comments. I read CNN everyday, and I guess if you want to call that liberal media, then by all means. I don't watch Fox News with hard-core conservative Bill O'Reiley, trying to tell us what to think. But I do not call myself "liberal." I am "moderate." Not all republicans are conservative, and not all democrats are liberal. One example would be John McCain. I respect this man as a politican. He doesn't appear to be controlled by special interests, and is one of the few who works with the other party to do what's best for this country. If all politicans would follow his example, perhaps this country wouldn't be labeled as the "most polarized its been in this nation in 5 decades".

Bottom line: Bush has hurt this country in many ways. The Patriot Act taking away our privacy, the No Child Left Behind Act with wasting money on children who just cannot keep up with normal kids (thus, schools spending more money on these kids, meaning taxes must go up to meet these mandates), the lousy ecomony, the attempt to start banning abortion, the deceitful justification to go to war with Iraq, etc. Need I go on?

Oh yeah, be nice to those KB employees!

the economy did downturn in march 2000. The tax cut helped, but it would have been more benefical to not use trickle down economics and give the full tax break to the middle and lower classes who would actually use the money and not stick it back in the bank

if anyone is to blame, its Greenspan, he shaped the economy into its great state and then went overboard with the rate increases

1. the education bill was written by ted kennedy, the man who claims his record is the best senator to support education...he is an extremely liberal senator, who wrote a bill, and got everyting he asked for, so you can't really blame the decline in our education on bush, or say that it doesn't get enough money, as the budget for eductation going back to regan has gone up over 100% with each new president, it isn't the money, it is the system that is in place.

2. oreilly isn't a conservative by any means, he much like mccain say what he believes in, and will be very liberal in some things, and very conservative in other, as for fox news being extremely conservative, they have geraldo rivera, laurie dew, and alan combs, along with several other contriubtors who have or still do work for very liberal media outlets..yes hannity is conservative, but by no means would i say that the station as a whole is conservative

3. If you know economics, it takes between 3-6 years for economic policy to take effect..and yes the stock marekt like the economy is going to go up, then down, but always end up avg out higher. It is a historical fact that the economy was going down when clinton was still in office, just like when clinton took office the market started to go robust, he didn't even pass a budget and the economy was taking off..now he got a economy that was ready to go up when he took office, and he was able to keep it robust for the majority of his presidency, but he did let it slip, and bush took over in a downward economy, and the 911 happened which hurt the economy..but the economy is on the rise..and by election time, the economy, barring another major incident in the domestic usa, will be again on its way up. Unemployment is always a lagging indicator..the jobs will come back, people may have to learn new skills, but that is something one must do in order to get by

4. He is putting to end a ban on partial birth abortions...i would rather have that, then someone like wesley clark, who said about a month ago, up untill the baby is out of the women, she may decide to have an abortion, so a women could be do for child tonight, but now decides to have an abortion, just think of the millions that have been aborted that could be paying taxes right now, with all the baby boomers going into old age

5. Yes he did push the WMD, the most, but he had numerous other items on his list of things why iraq should be attacked...the un and bill clinton thought he had wmd, so why is it bush lying when currently their doesn't appear to be any. Iraq broke the peace accord, and the un did nothing, much like the league of nations with germany b4 ww2. One must suffer the consequences when the break the law and get caught and iraq did that. Bill Clinton told us when we went to bosnia/kosov that millions and millions were being clensed from society due to their ethnicity. Only 300k bodies found, so did bill lie to us and lead us into a war where we shouldn't have been. To me it doesn't make a difference, both presidents did the right thing, and ohh by the way we were told we will be in kosov for 1 year, and we are still their, same with japan and germany.
The democrats problem is they are saying where is the wmd, you lied to us, because the democrats voted for it, and they thought their was wmd. They should be saying, where are the wmd, you had an objective to get the wmd, b4 they are used against us, and now it is worse, as they are prob in the hands of terrrorist, you failed in your mission.

This post has nothing to do with the topic, but either did the negative comments on bush

The president of the USA doesn't make any policy, it is made by the house and senate

I had a conversation with the KB close to me.

The girl said that the liquidator’s want everything marked by this weekend and the place fully staffed because it’s "going to be a madhouse"

She seemed skeptical of that and said that currently it looks like things are ringing up for 25% off. She said the liquidation is either 30 or 60 days long and they wont give out when the next price break is.

I checked a GBA SP and its still ringing up at full price. So I expect that to come down a little with the second price drop. They probably figure people might pick up a system (at full price) then a lot of clearance games for it.

damn those FW's with their fancy poodles and crocodile purses. Our middle class site and their high class rich site . just the name - fatwallet.com - indicates that they're rich. fat - wallet, storing a lot of money in it. and us- cheap ass gamers- stupid rich people. i hate them.

i hate bush too, but keep the politics outta this chat and at least into the off topic page. though it seems like everyone stopped, so ill say nothing.

Just at the KB at Regency Mall in Richmond, VA.

Nothing to really note. Games marked down 20%, all inaccessable behind a counter... some empty game boxes on the floor including PS1 games marked at $41.99.

And you wonder why they are closing some stores... Why buy a game at KB that is marked up $5-10 more than the same game u can pick up at Target, or across the street at TRU for $10 less?

Other items 20-40% off. I picked up a Batman & Robin action figure pack for my kid and it only rang up at 20% off, so I saved a little over $2.00. WHOO hoo.

BTW - move the policital rhetoric to the "Lifestyle Forum" please.

Just a suggestion. :D

And on topic, my KB is still running the $9.99, $14.99 and $19.99 sale. They don't seem to know that they soon will be out of a job. Hmmm, maybe politics are appropriate for this thread after all...

Politics are indeed appropriate for this thread. It's good to see there are some conscientious people out there. I'm just hesistant to read the political messages because it always just turns into one big flaming thread. The so-called "conservatives" vs. the so-called "liberals". aiyaa.

Walla Walla, WA KB Toys has most of their games 20% off across the board. The guy I talked to was pretty bummed that he's losing his job but he was really helpful.

I picked up Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the GBA for $12 (missed the $10 deal @ BB awhile back). They sold their last XBox for $150 and they had Game Cubes going for $80. While I was there someone picked up a GC.

From what I saw, it looked like all of the games that had been marked down to $9.99, $14.99, $19.99 had been brought back to normal price and then marked down 20%.

I noticed the same thing. What I don't get is why they make it so hard to buy games in the first place? Most games are behind that stupid counter with only the spines showing. How are we supposed to sort through that?!

01-29-2004, 03:57 PM
XBox for $150? That's 16.7% off? Odd markdown. Anyways, not a bad deal. Too bad all the systems will be bought before the big price cuts come. Imagine a PS2 or XBox at 90% off. That would be 18 bucks!!!

Target does not carry the ronin warrior action figures I so desperately desire.

Most of the stores that are closing probably had shipments stop after the holidays, which was already at least 20% off all video games. Newer titles 20% off were gone before Christmas at the one closing by me.

And I can't find WWF Maximum Sweat figures anywhere else but KB to make fun of.

I checked out the KB Outlet that is closing on Paxton Ave near Cincinnati, Ohio today. Man it sucks. They were giving 20% off on everything EXCEPT video games...and those were 10% off. The didn't have ANYTHING good, except one copy of Legend of Mana for PSX, and after the discount, it was still $44.99. Besides that, they had a few other PS1 games, but ALL sucked. Maybe 5 total, and the ones I remeber are Sidney 2000 and a Mary Kate and Ashley game. They had a few dreamcast games, nothing good, and the rest were all N64 games....and all of those were riduculously priced. WCW Assault for $40...come on! It was a wasted trip!

I went to the KB Toys in Stonestown Galleria, in northern California. Consoles were 10% off; I think everything else, including games, was 20% off. They only had XBox consoles left. The store was already disintegrating into a mess.

The KB in Thousand Oaks, CA, is doing a 20% off sale right now. Some games had green markdown stickers on them like they used for the December 9.99/19.99 sale, nothing particularly good, stuff like The Italian Job, Enter the Matrix (20 each), Whacked (10), and a sports title or two. So nothing exciting to report...yet.

By the time the really good sales begin, I imagine most of the better games will be long gone. They'll probably start off at 20% and then in a few weeks raise it to 40% and then later 60 or 80%. By the time it gets to that point all the good games will be gone. If you are eyeing a certain game you'd better get it now as it may not be there later.

yeah, the 20% has been going forever. my sister got Dark Cloud 2 for me for $33 and change with the 20% off, but then while visiting my grandma's house in NC, the KB there had it for $15, so i got the difference. but the thing was, he gave me the difference before the 20% off, so instead of $33-$16, he gave me $42-16, almost $27. i was pretty happy. i gave the difference to my sister though.

the KB in Kokomo Indiana (Markland Mall) has everything 20% off.

there were no Microsoft Xbox Controllers left, but there were quite a few generics.

There were no Xbox consoles or PS2 consoles left, but there were GameCube consoles, maybe 10 of them left. There were PS2 and GCN Controllers and there was a decent amount of games for all the consoles.

I didnt check the GBA systems so i dont know if there are any of them left or not.

I stopped by the KB at West Valley Mall near Tracy, CA yesterday and they had a whole lot of signs up stating they were closing and "everything must go". Deals weren't all that great though; 20%-40% off they're lowest ticketed price, but most of their games were regular price. I guess they weren't part of the $19.99 and under sale some KB's had; still some decent discounts though. Picked up Otogi for $31.99 and Hitman 2 for $15.99.

To all the West San Fernando CAGs I wouldn't hold my breath waiting to hit up the KBs when they reach 80% off or whatever. I went to the KB on Victory and Tampa and they had everything 20% but they basically didn't have very many games left. Atleast not games worth owning. The KB at the Topanga mall had a sale of 10% off, 20% on selected items. They have more a selection with some decent titles left but not as good a sale. Went to the White Flint store in MD today. No consoles left other than a PSOne. Lots of games though for all consoles including some pretty recent stuff. The sale is only 20% off right now, but the good games will go fast so it's probably best not to wait. Plus, they seemed to have marked a lot of the regular prices down. ATTENTION ALL CAG'rs -

Be wary of the prices that KB Toys is placing their merchandise at, stopped by the SeaTac Mall store in Federal Way, WA, initially told that this store would be open till March, lo and behold a sign that says open for 4 days everything at 30% off.

They had a lot of games and so I was going to purchase a few and was than told by management that none of the videogames are to be sold, they are packing them up and sending to the Super Mall store and if I want any to go there and buy the games. I asked him why he wouldnt sell them now and he gave me some crap about already being inventoried and ready to be moved, even though they are sitting on the shelves. I told him I wanted about ten games @ $15 a pop and he than lighted up and said that he would make an exception, I told him that it should not matter how many a customer buys and that I will happily take my $150.oo elsewhere, since they spent such a long time getting these items ready to ship, he wasnt too pleased.

All other merchandise was 30 % off but everything was at least 2 - 10 dollars over the standard retail you would pay at say Target or Toysrus. An example are Transformers which sell at Target for 5.99 or 6.99, they had them marked up at 9.99 and than 30% off. Be wary and no wonder they are going out of business!

Last week my store had signs saying 'Everything 10%-30% Off.' Now this week they have signs saying 'Everything 20%-40% Off.' Unfortunately video games have remained only 20% off. I'm hoping next week the signs say 'Everything 30%-50% Off,' which would mean games would be at least 30% off. I can't wait for the sale to get better because it has been going on for more than a week and my store stilll has 10 GBA SPs and 20 or so Wavebirds. :)

Yeah, the one I went to had 20% off everything, but all the videogames were more expensive than you would find them anywhere else, thus making them no deals at all. Got some good toys for my son though! :D

I'll keep checking back there, because they're sure to reduce prices further as time goes by.

I finally got around to venturing to my KBtoys today. Store was closing in 10 days with atleast 30% off everything in the store. The wife grabbed a GBA carrying case (One to match her Flame SP...it apparently was the only store locally that stocked that particular color) for $6.05 (Regularly $7.99)

I'm hoping they give greater discounts a week from today. I wouldn't mind grabbed a non-Player's choice version of Metroid Prime for under $10.

30% off right now at the KB in Capitola, CA. Scored GBC Marble Madness, GBA SP Wing Grip (works really well), and a Crazy Taxi RC car for $25. No systems left. Had a few DC games but they were all wrestling and a few N64 but they were all overpriced.

Went to my local closing KB (Thousand Oaks, CA) and they were running the 30% off sale. A lot of titles had gone, and there were no consoles in sight except for the original (non-SP) GBAs. I was hoping for some cheap Crimson Skies or Rainbow Six 3 action, but there were no copies left. The only recent-ish Xbox titles I saw were Armed and dangerous and Secret weapons over Normandy. The rest were older and crappier titles like Whacked, Wolverine's revenge, Enter the Matrix etc. I even saw a Kabuki Warriors box on the shelf with a 49.99 price tag. LOL.
And to add insult to injury, I tried to get a free Rebel Strike preview disc and the guy wanted to charge me $37 for it, he thought it was the actual Rebel Strike game.

More KB Toys news for WA CAG'rs...
Since The Federal way store in WA was closing and I was told to go to the Supermall, I did. The KB Toys store there had everything at 20% off and a awful selection of games left, no consoles and a sign saying closing in 10 days. Well come to find out that everything from this store and the Federal Way store is being moved to the Toy Works store in the Supermall, WA. They currently have everything marked up and than 20% off of that. They do however have about 30 GBA SP's at a sales price of $80.oo and five PS Ones running at $40.oo after discount. Game prices are still too high for my cheap ass. Manager said check on Mondays and Fridays for price changes (if any). Please drop a line and let us know how other WA sites are faring.

I finally stopped by my store thats closing. They had a crappy 20% off sale with a crappy selection of games. No home consoles left.

However they did have around 5 GBA SP's at 20% off. But being the cheapass I am I'm hoping for more of a discount later this week. We need only one more for some 4 player FF:CC loving :). I'm hoping to get one for 60-70ish. Didn't bother asking the workers when the store was closing because there was this damn little kid crying and acting like an idiot and her mom couldn't control her so I left.

I hope one of them is still left when I go back their tomorrow. And hopefully the sales are better.

If you can see that stuff clearly isn't selling like mad, it might be safe to wait. I've been to one or two KB's that were almost sold out during the 20% sale while others still had plenty left even after 30% off. Obviously, if there are only one or two copies left of a game that you absolutely must have, get it while you can. Otherwise, just hold tight, and odds are that by this weekend, everything will be down to 50% off.

I stopped by my KBToys today. They are closing on Sunday. The guy told me the sale would continue to be 30%-50% except for the first hour of business on Sunday, when they will add an extra 20% discount. It will be a crazy place when they open the gates. Games are currently 30% off but I'm waiting til 50%.

Too bad all their games are overpriced in the first place. Some games they had were: Mario Golf (50), Rebel Strike (30), F-Zero (50), THUG gc (50), Eternal Darkness (50 lol), Soul Calibur 2 all (50), conflict 2 xb (50), metriod prime (30), inside drive(50), courtside 02 (50 lol), 1080 (50), sw/tetris (35 b4 discount), brute force (30), bomberman generations (50), sphinx (40), star wars bounty hunter gc (30), robotech gc (30), rising sun xb (50). Got to say that I was amused by the sale at Eastland Mall (Columbus, OH). They took all their $9.99 / $14.99 / $19.99 deal games...used black marker on those price tags, and them started selling them for original retail price.

And they had no PS2 or GC games that I could tell...

I would have paid $7 for Robotech: Battlecry...but not $35+

Especially since I can go just a few miles, and get it for $9.99 at another KB that isn't going out of business...

Both my stores are now 30% off games. One is closing Sunday and will be 50%-70% off then. They say they will send away everything that doesn't sell.

The other just dropped from 20% today, using those interchangable signs. This store, different from the other, says they will sell everything. So they will at some point make it to 90% off. I can't wait. Also, they were sent items from another store that closed. I picked up Super Monkey Ball 2 today for $21. They still have 10 Platinum GBA SPs for $69.99 each. I was so tempted to snatch one.

I went to the Cool Springs, TN KBToys that is closing, Their last day is Monday, I believe, and they are still at 30% off (I bought Broken Sword GBA, $6.99 + tax after discount. Not the deal of the century, but I had heard that they did a good job with the conversion of the PC game, and I wanted to check it out). I do feel sorry for the people who are losing their jobs, but I have to admit, I laughed out loud when I saw a stand set up with a stack of fliers stating in large bold letters:

"Hot Games Coming Your Way. Reserve Yours Now!"

And it had a list of upcoming games. A store that is closing in two days just doesn't seem like a good place to preorder games.

Just got Mario Golf for $28. It was 30% off which made it $35, then they had 20% off coupons, because it was their last day, which took another $7 off.

Oh, and they had a few Rebel Strike bonus discs. I asked the manager if I could have it for free but he said something that made me laugh (a lot). "I can't give you that. It came free with an XBox." I couldn't believe this guy was mixing systems up. I tried to argue but then he pointed to the Not for Resale designation on the box. I decided it wasn't worth my trouble.

KB in Florin Mall is 30% off on games right now selection isn't bad but their regular prices are too high. I was thinking of getting Swords of Mana and Yoshi's Island hoping they would be $21 after the discount but the regular prices where $35 dollars which is about $5.00 more than the regular price anywhere else with the discount the price was still $25 just not cheap enough for me I'll wait till they go 40% off. No wonder why their closing stores and stopping Video Game sales in many of their other stores who's going to pay $35 for a game that's $30 everywhere else add that to the fact the their Video Game displays suck and you have a recipe of disaster.

The only games they had left were GBA games, which were all 30% off. They had a few decent games (Fire Emblem, Advance Wars 2, Duke Nukem Advance), but nothing too exciting. If the games were 50% off - just $6 cheaper than the current price of $21 - I would've jumped on the sale. As it is, though, it's just not enticing enough. I know...I'm a real cheap ass.

Now, if I happen to go back in a few weeks and see these games for, say, 75% off, it's time to kiss my money goodbye... :D

Don't count on that, I don't think anyone who has had their local KB closed already has said that games went past 30% off. Even when the one near me closed last Monday, nothing was more than 50% off in the store. Unfortuantely, KB doesn't seem to realize that the point of a going out of business sale is to actually try to get rid of their merchandise but when even at 30% off, the prices are sometimes still more than what are stores are selling the games for, I guess it's no wonder why they are in bankruptcy.

I know...but being optimistic never hurts, right? :D I've gotten some great deals on Game Boy games before; I really don't expect these games to get any cheaper, but it can't hurt to hope for it. The mindless consumer sheep of America will buy anything that's got a 10% off sticker on it; 30% off must seem like an amazing deal to them.

Good thing we're all smarter than that...

Yeah, you're right about when people see something like 30% off, they think it's automatically a great deal even though usually if they would bother to look around, they could probably find most of the games for a lot less.

Got back from Stonestown (San Francisco) KB Toys. All of their GBA games are gone, but there's still a few console games left.

Oh yes, and the employees there would not let me buy the Rebel Strike bonus disc.

Do you know when the store in Stonestown closes down? I've been going to the one in Serramonte (30% off video games), but they don't have much PS2 games left.

I visited both the other day. Each store has some good stuff (THUG for GC for $31, if my eyes worked that day), but overall, I think the Stonestown one still had a better selection.

Damn the one near me isn't closing. Anyone know if they will still have sales at the ones remaining open?

Why would they? Other than normal sales, my store, and the ones that are staying open like it, are not having any special sales rather that what was planned, and that doesnt involve videogames until our Easter sale.

The KB at Regency Square in Richmond, VA closed its doors Sunday night, 2/29.

The games were cleared out long ago, a lot of what remained where misc action figures, PS1 memory card and 3rd party controllers, and a variety of toys. Oh, and more Tekken Tag Strategy guides than you could image, all dog eared and seriously used/abused.

No severance for the remaining folks, though the clearance company did give them incentive pay to stay thru to the bitter end. Good luck to all those who have lost their jobs.
