The other thread inspired me, along with not being able to sell one of my books back.

I've got an A+ Hardware second edition book and lab manual, never been written in, barely used.

I'd be very interested in getting this thread started, as I could use some cheap textbooks. I just don't have any to sell right now. However, if anyone has these, I'm looking for the following books:

Enumerative Combinatorics - Richard Stanley (either the full version or both of the paperback volumes)
The Theory of Partitions - George Andrews
The Sensual (Quadratic) Form - John H Conway
Generatingfunctionology - Herbert Wilf

I'll have to agree with you basketkase, especially since I would have purchased many games whether or not I got great deals on them. But cheap textbooks...

If you are looking to buy text books or just about any other book the site to see is called best book buys http://www.bestbookbuys.com . They run an program that looks at all of the bookstores on the internet and finds cheap ass prices on them. Usually by buying my textbooks off the different sites listed I could save $75-250 each semster on my books over the campus bookstores.

Check out http://www.campusi.com/

It searches and compares the prices of many bookstores, and even includes coupon codes you can use for purchases.

Cheapassstudent.com does exist. It's called Half.com.

You should all sell your books on there. You can easily get more there than your school's store.

Amazon.com is another good place to sell used books.

If you're looking to buy books, try www.addall.com

I second both campusi.com for buying and half.com for selling. Campusi.com saved me a ton of money since I was led to it, although my school's bookstore is sometimes competitive with the prices on its used books. Half.com is easy to sell too, I sold my Botany textbook for $65 in 2 days, compared to the school offering to buy it for $19. It only cost me about $70 to buy it new thanks to campusi. I've already sold most of my books, but I have a couple used anthropology books, religion, and a biology book, all in new shape. If someone lists one of them as something they need, I can make a deal. These are all a little more obscure and I doubt many classes will require them, but I just want to sell them cheap as long as its more than the $1-2 dollars offered by the school.

Nobody would need any of the books I kept instead of selling back, since they're all game related.

careful buying used books . Sometimes you will need a Cd that comes in the new books then the next semster they wont use the FREAKING CD and wont by the book bacK AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(lost 185 bucks on a accounting 425 book this way)

But so what? I'm sure they didn't make CDs UNIQUE to each book. Burn a copy of a classmate's CD.

Has anyone had bad experiences with ordering their textbooks used online?
I ask because one of the books I need I can get for 90 dollars used at the bookstore here on campus... or as low as 2.95 online? The idea that a book that sells for 90 here and 2.95 there makes me a little worried about the condition of the book, which only has a description of "Good".

Thoughts?

Edit: it turns out I was looking at the old edition, but still online its like half the price, thoughts?
