That's because it's drawing from the same base now.

I saw a shift like this was going to happen further down the line back in december... I figured as soon as the deals became more scarce, the regular posters would find something else to spend thier time here... and flamewars and joke topics is it.

With the 2-3 major dumps of new users in that period, it would be foolhardy not to thing that the groups of new people wouldn't alter the demeanor of the boards.

The only way this will change is when: 1. There are more deals, 2. Mods and CheapyD decided to crack down, 3. People decide to change of thier own accord.

3 will most likely never happen. Depending on how bad it gets, 2 is possible, but 1 is the most likely solution. I'd be willing to bet that all of the flame wars will die down dramatically in the 4th quarter, and even in the couple of weeks around E3... if people have something else to talk about, they are much less likely to flame.

I never said I wasn't involved in it, rather, I just mentioned that it was a slight shift in the posting habits of most of the board, and more likely that not it will normalize itself when there is more interesting deal or game related news about... when that happens, you'll see the number of off topic posts drop by far.

There is a difference between negativity and vulgarity. With the exception of the the "flame the person above you thread", I've rarely, if ever post a vulgarity... and if I did, it wasn't directed at one specific person. I've already shown two occassions where JimmieMac did that... I doubt it would be that difficult to find a few more.
Since I'm don't care for vulgarity all that much, it isn't hypocracy.

That was a trade forum headline. All of the trade forum headlines have gotten that way to draw interest to the trade list. If you take issue with that, take it to CheapyD and the mods. Considering that there are a great deal of people doing that with thier trade forum posts, I don't think that it's so cut and dry as you assume it is.
