I know the supposed internal logo sketches are old news, but check this out:

Shady source sends suspicious pics of Nintendo's next-gen console - will it be called Revo?http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/images/pad.gif

10:46 The web has been awash with unofficial, unconfirmed and sometimes downright unconvincing images of Nintendo's (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php?id=120698#) Revolution and its controller for months now.

And even though president Satoru Iwata unveiled the console at Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference, that hasn't stopped the shady pics spilling forth.

The latest batch of images landing on our desktops in a brown paper email show off a slightly redesigned Revolution casing, a new logo and a new shortened name - Revo. Still no sign of the Revolution's enigmatic controller, though.

The source of these images - who wishes to remain anonymous - claims to have a friend working for an advertising agency with links to Nintendo. These images are allegedly concept work intended exclusively for internal use amongst high-ranking Nintendo of America executives.
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/images/pad.gifWhen we contacted Nintendo to check out the images we were unsurprisingly hit with the standard response: "Nintendo does not comment on internet (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php?id=120698#) rumours and speculation."

So, again, we should emphasise that these images are totally unofficial.

The redesigned Revolution shown in these images is slightly slimmer than the model shown at E3, has a less glossy casing, and has an 'R' logo engraved into the side of the console. Another image shows this logo in detail. While like everything contained in these images it remains totally unofficial, it certainly looks better than the dull logo paraded at E3.

Our source also claimed that Nintendo plans to shorten the Revolution name to 'Revo'. An Italian company is said to already own the trademark, but our source mentions that Nintendo is in negotiation to use it.

These images also offer a possible glimpse into Nintendo's plans for advertising and marketing the Revolution. Our source claims it will be Nintendo's darkest and most adult campaign yet, focussing on change and aggressively attacking the competition. You can see this rumoured attitude in the phrases "Every once in a while... Things change for the better," and "Message for the competition: Game Over."

Finally, the source claims that while no-one knows exactly when the Revolution will launch it will hit shelves sooner than expected. He claims that Nintendo does not want to lag too far behind Sony (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php?id=120698#) and Microsoft (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php?id=120698#), and wants to surprise them with a shock launch.

Grind the gristle in your own rumour mill by checking out the images, and we'll keep you up to date with the latest official - and unofficial - next-gen happenings.

I have never really liked the stylized "R" (even though I did have it in my sig in the days leading up to e3), but the "ad" that says "Game Over" showing a backwards "Revo" is the only thing that makes me wonder. Anyway, it is likely just a creative fan. But who knows?

That 'R' looks stupid... I could careless what the name is, as long as it's not something stupid like StarCube (remember that one? ).

BTW, the Rev in your sig is sweet. I hope they release one like that.:)

If you beleive this,.... you are really gullible.
I know you are just passing along the rumour,... but it is so obvious, it can't be helped to wonder why you'd even bother spreading this disease.

It's just a clever phrase,... game over,.... but anyone can think of brilliant slogans for anything.

Not to mention the copyrighted name "Revo", a sunglasses manufacturer

I don't think that would matter. There wouldn't be any market confusion or anything. Plus, it would just be a product Nintendo was selling, not the name of their entire company. no one with a brain is going to walk into Sunglasses Hut and try to buy a video game console. Also, there is no copyright involved here - it's a trademark. </pointless rant>

Wow I'm a nerd. Also, I think those pics are fake as hell...

The one picture says: "Message for the competition: Game Over" and then at the bottom says: "For Internal Use Only". And the text is horrible. Bad photoshop job.

I think the whole "Revo" sunglasses thing would conflict...

I wonder how many of the posters who say photoshopped here have even used the program itself to know what sets it apart as a fake or is this just typical "if fake then photoshopped" syndrome.

No it wouldn't. Nintendo doesn't make sunglasses. Revo doesn't make computers.

I doubt that Nintendo would mark the pic "for internel use only" but who knows what those crazy Japanese dudes are doing...

Im not claiming to be the God of Photoshop either it just irritates me when something of this nature is posted and everyone is first to pull out the "Photoshop Card" to sound kewl and L337, etc. and I can almost guarantee that the majority of those have never even touched the program once.

I have. Use it all the time. And these, my friend, are pretty mediocre 'shops, at best.

And regardless, you don't have to be an expert in Photoshop to comment on how well a fake job was done, jeez. Sounds like you're some sort of Photoshop eliteist.

Going astray here, but the hoaxer really needs to learn to properly compress a JPEG.

No it wouldn't. Nintendo doesn't make sunglasses. Revo doesn't make computers.

It doesnt really matter what each company makes, its a copyrighted name. The same thing happened to the Jacksonville Jaguars and thier likeness of thier 1995 logo and the Jaguar car logo. Jaguar (car) sued and the Jaguars changed thier logo and have been stinking up the NFL ever since. Anyway its a moot point because I guarantee you that they will not call thier system REVO.
