Since I picked up copies of Shenmue and Timestalkers, which I got ripped off by EB with those two ($7.99 for both), I decided to search other EBs for Dreamcast games. Found a PO'd sealed Skies of Arcadia, unfortunately the case is cracked ($19.99) and a PO'd Cannon Spike ($12.99 - free game) and picked up FF anthology ($17.99) to go with them.
Never heard of cannon spike but saw that it was made by capcom. Just checked on eBay and they go for $30+ so it's a good find.
They also had a sealed Maken X (noticed it was an Atlus game). Should I get it?

Maken X isn't rare at all. Cannon Spike is a great game. Case is cracked? So what it's just a jewel case.

I rented Maken X when it came out and didn't really enjoy it. I suppose it's ok, if you can find it for really cheap, but I wouldn't pay anything higher than $10 for it, and I'd prefer $5 (mostly just to fill out the collection).
Oh, and $7.99 for Shenmue (esp. if it's complete) is totally worth it in my book. I loved that game. Admittedly, it's not the type that everyoen will enjoy, but I bought it full price the day it came out and still consider it money well spent.

I thought Maken X was ok back in the day but it really doesn't seem like the type of game that would have aged well. I remember Cannon Spike as well, it was a much better idea than it was a game.

Maken x is great in my opinion, It was a first person sword fighting game, which I think worked really well.

Is Maken X part of the Shin Megami Tensei series? I remember hearing rumors about this and I'm curious to see the truth on that issue.

I would reccomend alien front online if it was still online....that game was amazing. no lag online with crystal clear voice chat all on a 56k. I never bothered being an Alien. blowing things up with tanks is too damn fun.
On another note...get dynamite cop. when the intro CG plays look at the size of the nose on the presidents daughter...shes got to be a gnome or something. That games hilarious all the way through.

I agree, one of the most underrated games on the system imo. I loved it.
And it has no real connection to the SMT series, other than the fact that the same character designer worked on both games.

Skies of Arcadia is still sealed with the plastic wrap but the case is cracked, as in someone must have dropped it.
Maken X was also sealed and it was priced for $5.99. There were several games (Ecco and some racing games) that were still sealed which I thought was odd since EB will usually open them during trade in. Watched gameplay footage and I think I'll pass on it and save that money for Sonic Adventure.

With those prices I would do it, especially if they're coming up used, which they probably will ;)

If anyone comes across Seaman, I highly recommend it. It's my favorite DC game by far. Yeah, it may be just a virtual pet game...but you can have some interesting chats with it. :D

Thanks for clearing that up. I'll have to find this game as well *sigh*.

I would have to say one of the best games was toy commander, just simply because of the multiplayer.
*to me makken x was ok, havent played it in a long time though.

I would have to pick Soul Caliber as my favorite Dreamcast game. Remember picking up the console and NFL2K on launch day from TRU. Think I picked up Soul Caliber that same day. Did pick up Blue Stinger (yawn) from the BB next door to TRU before I went home. Lost some sleep that week.

I looked at DC as more of a bridge between the PSone/N64 era and the newer systems. Sure, DC had some great next generation games (Soul Caliber, Grandia 2, etc.), but it also had the best console ports of some last generation games (Shadowman, SW: Episode 1 Racer, RE2 & 3, etc.).

Dreamcast has Rez, Samba di Amigo and Typing of the Dead. What more could you ask for?
