Sean Connery is the best IMO. Those are also the best bond movies in the franchise as well.

This is gonna be a landslide. It's almost not worth asking except to reaffirm my faith in the taste of mankind.

Well, they were supposed to replace Brosnan but last time I checked, they decided he would stay Bond for now. I think he does an excellent job and while I do think Sean Connery was the best, I can think of no current actor to replace Brosnan.

Sean Connery ,Roger Moore ,Pierce Brosnan ,George Lazenby & Timothy Dalton [Tie] . In that order .

P.S. I boycotted the 2 Timothy Dalton movies , I grew up w/ Roger Moore .

Roger Moore was far more of a sleazeball than the others; that trait alone makes him more faithful to Ian Fleming's concept of Bond.

Sean Connery is the best actor of the bunch, in general. I think many people's affinity for Connery blinds them to the fact that he is not the most accurate Bond. In addition, he did that miserable Thunderball-bullshit ripoff "Never Say Never Again" in the 80's. What a piece of shit that was. Once people come to the conclusion that Sean Connery is a fallible creature, then realizing that he was an outstanding Bond, but not the best, comes a little bit easier.

Dalton wasn't a bad Bond, but his scripts were "Rambo meets tuxedo," and he was cast b/c Brosnan was busy doing primetime dramas. Brosnan has only been slightly luckier with his films.

Lazenby's always been my dark horse, but On Her Majesty's Secret Service was my favorite film. I wish he had done more.

See, I have to disagree Myke. Yes, Moore was more oily. But the problem is that his oiliness came along as more camp and humerous in the 70's and 80's. Connery appears to play a more cold and smug individual. And that puts him ahead of Moore.

Sean Connery gave the movies the cool feel that popularized them he is the best

Cold and smug? Absolutely. My reading of a good deal (not all, but enough, I'd say) of Fleming's novels have rendered this character description of Bond: dirty old man. Connery couldn't pull that off to save his life.

I will concede that Connery had much better films to work with (except he left just before OHMSS, the twit!), but I still (and I must repeat myself, loud and often, since I'm assured of being in the minority) stand that Moore was the best Bond.

Last post for the night: a real poll would look at favorite Bond villain (although, to be fair to all the villains, you might have to take out Blofeld). My vote? Scaramanga.

Sean Connery IS James Bond, there's just no comparison.

If you ask me, anyway.

I also think of Connery when I think of James Bond. But I also like Moore and Pierce's Bond.

I like Moore and Connery. I kinda lost interest in James Bond after those guys.

The last Bond with Bronson sucked so much (it was the one where they were in that building made of ice). I think Bond needs to hang it up.

Connery, then Moore, and Brosnan a close third (if not tied with Moore).

I say Connery is the best because he came the farthest as an actor to play the role and did it so well. Moore and Brosnan both had alot of prior experience as the suave/smart secretive type characters.

Sean Connery gave it a touch of class but I think Pierce did a fantastic job... can't be helped if the scripts he gets sucks but as the personification of Bond (novels notwithstanding) I think he did it the best.

Gotta go with Sean Connery. Looks as though most of us are agreed in that regard.

Maybe one day they will find someone who comes close to him, but they haven't yet.

I thought each Bond was good for their time. I really don't have one favorite, although I disliked Lazenby and Dalton, especially when they had Bond get married. Bond is a playboy, not a husband. Although, Connery had one of my favorite lines evar- He slaps his girl on the rear, saying 'Off you go, now. It's man talk time.'

I think it was stated a while back that Pierce Brosnan will be back for Casino Royale, the next Bond movie. There were rumors of another Bond, though.

That's not canon though and Tarantino was supposed to direct but I don't remember if that fell through.

Poor Tim Dalton still doesn't have any votes. Has he done anything at all since he was Bond?

I used to say Connery, but I'm thinking my favorite is Pierce. I like his Bond better, although Connery has the better movies. It's a shame that the last couple Pierce movies sucked (IMO). Goldeneye is great though, and one of my favorite Bond movies.

He was too stressed to be a good bond, and george lazenby was...well, was dealt a bad hand

Quentin Tarantino directing Casino Royale did fall through.

well...bad hand isnt really the phrase i should have said...Lazenby went extra miles for a role which didnt demand it...and then when given the reality of what a bond contract was, he couldnt handle it

As for stressed...well Timothy Dalton seemed to be less laid back in his movies than Sean Connery did, and sean connery was hardly ever uptight. Sean Connery, gave the movie its feel, and timothy dalton took away that feel in hopes of getting an oscar for acting(or something akin to that)

Connery & Moore , as for the modern bond pierce hit the nail on the head, I couldnt picture anyone else playing the role...
