Water ice was discovered on Mars. It's lying in a crater near the pole.

How long until we settle mars? Twenty years? Fifty years?

Not for hundreds and hundreds of years. What happens when you have a box of Lucky Charms and no milk? You'd go insane.
I prophesy that only pirates will live on Mars.
edit: thanks for the link, btw

Haven't you read any Ray Bradbury? That shit is a bad idea. Well, for the initial settlers, at least.

They also found an "object" way out there that has its own moon.. today is a good day for alien conspiracy theorists.
Myself? Yeah, I believe other life is out there. Why wouldn't it be?

Actually, I'd eat them dry out of a cup and enjoy it all the while. :D

Woah, looks like my free 3d glasses that come on the boxes of fruit by the foot came in handy for that website. The 3d image is really cool .

I bet they find signs of life in the ice (bacteria most likely).

It will only be a matter of months before the Martians discover the Earth is populated by people and turn us into chicken wings.

I'm wearing a blue shirt right now. I guess according to those guys, I'm wearing water. (just playing the skeptical guy that no one listens to, until just before the end they say "we should've listened to him, it's a trap!")

Whats so cool about water. Maybe mars was earth a couple millions years ago. The planet turned dessert so we moved here. Then all record was lost during the ice age? Well maybe not.... I see us trying to settle mars. I hope that the russians don't get there first!

What is this? 1987? Does Russia even have a space program anymore?:D

Yay! After Millions of tax dollars spent we find a frozen pond on Mars. It was sooooo worth it.

Unfortunately, right now, theirs is better than ours. We had to have them bring our astronauts down from the ISS when Columbia exploded.

I was thinking of Ray Bradbury when i saw the topic name as well. I dont think its a bad idea though but it wont happen for a long time, we havent even gotten any people to mars yet.

Spectrographical analysis and this :"It cannot be frozen carbon dioxide since carbon dioxide ice had already disappeared from the north polar cap at the time the image was taken (late summer in the Martian northern hemisphere). "

I think I'll be lucky to see man step on Mars before I die. NASA is still having problem with the foam on the fuel tank after over 2 years working on it. I think landing a man on Mars and return him safely to Earth will be much harder.

You should see the ridiculous amount of luck that the Earth had in being suitable for life. There's tons of factors that go into even allowing for life to evolve. If there is life, there won't be that many eligible planets

Bullshit.
It is worth it. The whole purpose of NASA is to explore and inform, which is what they are doing. That's what we pay them for, and they do a good job with that. Nothing they do brings back immediate results, as they don't work that way. They work towards the future, not the present. It's not bullshit.

Yeah, the part about martian weather predictions is pretty funny.

How do we know that's ice and not 2000 tons of Martian cocaine? The street value of that lake is outrageous!!!
And for the record that has got to be the fakest looking photo I have ever seen in my life. The highres version looks like a painting that some space-geek would do in highschool if he had an assignment to illustrate his greatest fantasy. While other guys turn in picturs of themselves as rock stars getting blown by a herd of groupies, this guy hands his masterpiece entitled "OMFG Water on Mars!!111"

 I was imagining an astronaut going to scoop some of this "water", only to have his suit instantly dissolved and turned into a chocolate pudding-like substance.
