Play import games on your Gamecube! I've never seen these below retail price of 19.99.
Anyways, I grabbed up the last copy at mine, it was the shelf copy but was new. In Store only, and of course YMMV.

fucken dumb employees, i called to check the price and the employee at the arcadia/foothill ca branch.. here's the conversations.
employee: "hello this is gamestop, where you can trade in 4 used games for madden 2004, manual speaking how may i help you"
me: "hi, um, i had a question about the gamecube freeloader?"
employee: "k, go ahead.."
me: "i was wondering if you had any in stock, and if its still $4.99"
employee: "uh.. $4.99? (followed by long laughter..) uh oh ok, i dont think so, (some more laughter) but let me uh, check for you."
me: "......"
employee: "(change of tone, back to serious) um, yea it is priced at $4.99 sir, but unfortunily we do not have any more in stock"
me: "im sorry, what price did you say it was?"
employee: "... um.. $4.99 sir"
me: "hah.. ohhhh so it IS $4.99?"
employee: ".................................................. .................."
employee: "uh, thanks for calling gamestop.. (hangs up)"
me: "
but i mean WTF??? does gamestop even give you interviews??? when you try to laugh at a customer? what manners and training gamestop gives their employees, its almost as bad as a bestbuy employee... i really hope theres some manager level CAGs that will read this actual call.
also on gamestop.com under store locator, it states "If you want expert advice about games, or if you prefer to shop in our stores, we'll be glad to direct you to your nearest store." .. expert advice?... 6 out of 10 of the stops i called they had no idea what a freeloader was.. i answered that it's a disc that lets you play imports, (and other thing.. ofcourse i didnt want to complicate things.. so i didnt mention it.) and the employees were in bad tones saying "dude, we dont have anything in that nature here" and another 1 put me on his headset, and i couldnt hear him, so i was like, "um, what was that again? i couldnt hear you" he returned yelling saying "WE! DO! NOT! HAVE! ANYTHING! IN! THAT! NATURE!" 2 sec pauses between each word.

What part of Cali you in rims? My gamestop in Pinole, North cali is pretty cool and I don't have any problems there. (except for the new 18+ to trade in games policy, total crap :x

I live in South CA, and although GS isn't the best customer service I've had, it was nowhere near the horrid experience you described, rimsforsale. :( That's really crappy. Sometimes, I call in to ask if they have Suikoden II (LOL, the store locator said it'd be in for about over 6 months now), and when they say the inevitable 'no', I start asking them about other rare PS1 RPGs. They've been nice and cordial if they aren't busy, but when they are, of course I understand.

That's actually more of a legal thing. Since they take down info when you trade it in (so managers can check and make sure employees aren't pulling a fast one), the person has to be an adult otherwise it's considered soliciting information from a minor.
Before this got implemented, I took a trade in from a 16 year old. Mother came in a few days later pissed as all hell because she's the one who paid for the games and not her son. That was a big headache and I'm sure other places have experienced that too.
As for GS employees... some are ok, some aren't. The store I ran was overall pretty decent. Some of my younger workers had to be housebroken though (stereotypical high school attitudes). As much as they try, they can't really know everything about games though. I mean, most are part time workers so they can't quite afford everything even if they wanted. lol

I have heard that type of thing a lot from gamestore employees where the kid trades in games and the parent comes in to the story all angry that the kid sold their games. At least with the 18+ rule, you don't have to hear customer complaints like that anymore.

I go to the one in Temecula (CA) quite often, and I've never had experiences with employees like others have posted here. They're usually pretty helpful, and will even check prices for me if they've changed (like if the pricer were lower on the website than in-store).
Oh, and about the kid who traded in games and the mom got all pissed, my mom did that to me when I was about 13 or 14. She asked me where one of my games were one time, and I told her I traded it in, and she freaked. She pretty much told me the same thing, about how I wasn't the one who bought them and such. But that was almost 10 years ago, before places asked for ID and the like. I think the parent should be there on trade-ins and when they buy something (that is, to a certain age, like 16). Parents could also act as a negotiator to get a better trade in (maybe by a couple of dollars or so).

I don't think stores haggle on trade in prices...I may be wrong with some mom 'n pop stores though.

I hate having to explain to the employees what I'm looking for.
"Suikoden II."
"Sookoaedean II? What the f00k? How do I spell that?"
5 minutes of teaching this guy how to spell he hands me the third one because he cant read roman numerals nor can he read PLAYSTATION 2.

This is why I only do trades with 18+...legally you cant bind anyone under 18 into a contract. So parents can come legally ask to get games back...and they get all pissed when their 12 yr old kid trades games in without permission...I have had it happen a few times.

Unless you are planing to import games, you don't need it, and will never need it.
Import games are usually not the forte of the Cheapass gamer... you usually will have to pay full retail plus a premium for any game you would want to get.
That said, I bought mine in the pack with the Pro Action Replay, and it's probably among the best 10 dollars I've spent for an accessory for my gamecube.
DreamMix TV World Fighters is beyond fun... how can running down Simon Belmont and Bomberman with a transformed into Semi Mode Optimus Prime not be fun.
Basically, it plays a great deal like Super Smash Brothers Melee, but with Konami, Hudson and Takara characters.

Yeah, which is why it is so hard for me to buy import games. When I am used to buying $5 - $10 US games, spending $55 - $65 (plus the money for special Bemani controllers like Keyboards, Guitars, Pop N Music controller etc.) for import games is something that is really hard for me to do but with all the games not coming out in the US or all the games that are totally different in their US versions (DDR Max Japan versys DDR Max USA have next to nothing in common except the same name and game engine for example) it's the only option for some games

Would someone mind grabbing me a Freeloader??
I have Dragon Drive D, and even though, it supposedly sucks, I'd really like to play it.
I'd toss in some extra cash, and leave you an awesome feedback.
Please help me out. Let me know.
Thanks so much.
