Wow, that's kind of pathetic.

I have never skipped school or called in sick just to play a video game.

Ive called in sick for sick reasons and due to that ended up playing games all day, the only ones I can recall are Zelda Majors Mask for this two day strip during which I had a stomach virus and playing Monster Hunter the week I had the flu.

You must not be in college yet or never went if you are past that age. I can't even count the classes I skipped to play video games or get drunk or whatever. Anyway, last time I did that was just after college for Ocarina of Time. 3 sick days and I played almost straight through.

I never called in sick to play a video game but i did schedule and take a personal day off to play Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) when it released and without regret I did pay full price for that game.

I never skipped school for gaming... but, I did skip one day of college for a poker tournament. And I barely made the money, so it was worth it. :p

I never have myself, but I'd be willing to bet that a fair amount of people will call in sick to work or have a day off scheduled for next Tuesday when Madden is released.

I only skipped class when I knew I could, but I'd say the last time was shortly after Wind Waker came out. In fact the only times I ever skipped school for video games it was always a Zelda game. Never called off work for it though, that's how I afford the games in the first place (Though sometimes I really wanted to).

I missed school to get a xbox and Shenmue 2. I spent all day playing that game and that has to be the funniest day ever.

I never called off from work though. I missed a lot of school for gaming. I did graduate if anyone is wondering. However lots of my school time was spent waiting for the teacher to calm the class down, laughing, or gaming at home.

I can't say I've purposely called off work to play a game but I remember in grade school I would be in the middle of a game and have to go to bed becasue I had school the next day. I would then pretend to be sick the next day so I could finish the game :-).

Skipped a few classes in college due to Halo matches going overtime, but that's all so far. I'll probably skip work for a day of Zelda: Twilight Princess after it comes out.

I never saw the point of skipping school just to play a game... If I was going to stay home, I'd sleep till like noon anyway, and school ended at 1:30, so there was really no point to me. If I stayed home sick I would play games though.

haha that reminds me since I'm obsessed with the MGS series I faked sick to the school nurse because I couldn't get it off my mind so I walked home and played twin snakes all day.

Never stayed home sick to play a game. I was always too sick and missing loads of school to even want to pretend to be sick... if that makes sense.

On a related note, I remember being coming out of a day-long coma when I was little, and having to stay in bed with the bed covered by a bubble-like chamber. However, the folks at the hospital were kind enough to bring me an NES with Super Mario Bros. 3 to play for a while. :)

Definitely donate games and such to your local children's hospitals. It really helps take your mind off illness and makes the time in a hospital pass quickly and with less pain.

Well a long time ago in the 12th grade my mother let me stay home from school one friday, only because it was a half day and we werent going to be doing anything that particular day

I had just picked up some game for the SMS, but I forget what the title was... anyway I played that all day

But I have never or would never take a day off from work for the sole purpose of playing a video game

I was thinking about it today to play World of Warcraft. I always think about doing it, but then end up growing some and heading off to work. It makes me feel a little better that I do go anyway, although there have been times where the drive to play a game (or go out with friends, or take a road trip) has been too great.

Now in College, that's another story. Christ, looking back--- I think I could have phoned in my 4 years at school and still recieved a degree :)

I can't say that I can remember calling in sick just to play a game, but there have been numerous times when I've called in sick and ended up spending some time playing a game. I did call in sick once after staying up all night playing EQOA.

I have called in sick to go fishing a couple of times. And I believe I've done it once or twice for new movies as well.

Halo 2 was the only game I ever did that with... I had a reserve for over two years and picked it up at midnight making it 3am when I fell asleep, controller in hand. Woke up at 9am, went to my computer... emailed in sick and went back to gaming.

I've only worked for a year, so there's yet to been a game that I've decided to skip work for.

Growing up during school, though, I can think of a number of times that I stayed home to play games...

Once my cousin and I both skipped the same day (we went to different schools, but same town), and we chatted on AOL all day while playing games in between. That was pretty unique.

I was once at an uncle's birthday party when I was like 8. I had rented Zelda: A Link to the Past, and was so hooked on it that I faked sick and cried in a corner so we could leave the party. My dad said something along the lines of, "You better not be playing that damn game if you're so sick!" (He was on to me...) We went home, he went to sleep, and I played it. (I specifically remember that I was in a mountain dungeon where you needed to use the hammer to flatten those gopher dudes that pop up-and-down to advance in the path.)

Ultimately, though, staying home sick to play games was never worth it. When I was "sick" my mom frowned upon me playing games. I'd usually wake up at 7 or so, tell my mom I was sick, go back to sleep until 11 or 12 -- I'd have from then until whenever my mom got off of work, usually about 4.

I've never called in sick, but I have certainly taken days off for releases. I've taken the following release days off: LoZ:OoT, SOCOM 1 (and the network adapter), Star Wars Battlefront (just because I could), PSP launch, Halo 2. There might've been others, but I can't remember...

i have never been sick enough to miss work yet.. theres been times i'd plan trips to the arcade to play some fighter or gauntlet.. but when i was in grade/middle/high school.. i remember missing a day to finish Lunar.. missing a day to finish FF7.. and one time i played Quake 2 from 8Pm to about 8 AM and i couldn't go to school the next day.. ah.. the joys of online gaming.
