View Full Version : Open apology to x0thedeadzone0x

A couple of days ago I was involved in a thread with x0thedeadzone0x and jimmiemac. There was quite a bit of the typical as of late bashing going on which I was an active participant. I posted something with the intent that jimmmiemac would pick up on it and make one of his run of the mill crude remarks. I was not disappointed. I laughed hysterically at his post at the same time feeling he had hit a low in the crudeness category. x0thedeadzone0x took a serious offense at his post (it was directed at her). I almost kinda felt proud that I had started something.
After watching subsequent posts and finding out that x0thedeadzone0x
is like 14 years old, I began to feel some remorse for my participation in the whole thing. I have three daughters and the thought of someone calling them something like that really p*issed me off. I believe although I can't say for sure that Jimmiemac being a veteran to the boards knew with whom he was dealing with as well as her age and opted to make his remark regardless. I feel like this was very low. I don't want to preach about reform or anything like that... it's pointless. I don't want to condem anybody for their lack of kuth and I'm not about to say I don't like somebody. I honestly do like to post in some of the flame threads and I do on occasion like to take shots at people. I can be serious and I can be an ass. However out of all the things I can be..... I can be mature enough to realize that someone got really hurt by something that I was an active participant in.

So to clear my conscience I would just like to say I'm sorry to x0thedeadzone0x.

You could've just sent her a PM instead of making this thread and trying to get ppl to think how nice you are, which I'm sure you intended to do.

kudos to you for owning up to what you feel was a mistake on your part. A lot of us do take shots at each other, and for the most part it is meant all in good fun. But things do get out of hand from time to time, and I think that some of us older CAGs (I'm 27, don't know about you) should try to show a bit more restraint when we are in a thread that will likely be seen by some of the younger ones.

And while I haven't seen the thread to which you are referring, I commend you for knowing when to tuck your tail between your legs and apologize.

and you could have just sent HIM a PM so you wouldn't seem like you are just trying to morally one-up him. regardless of his motives, accepting blame in an open forum will likely go a long way towards making the recipient of the apology feel better.

I have not read the thread either but I think you posting this is better than a PM. What ever your intentions are, it is a reminder to all of us that there are younger people here.

This is how I see it. It's like when someone draws something and they know it's good, then they ask you if it's good just to show it off.

While you making this gesture is nice, it's hard to put the djini back in the bottle.

That said, making a public apology is the much better way of handling this, as it does show that you are much more sincere in your apology than if you just sent a PM saying the same thing.
Of course, if you are truly sincere in your apology, you should probably also send something directly to her asking forgiveness.

Actually you are surely wrong. Cause I'm not nice. And quite frankly I don't care if people think I am or not. However I do have a sense of values which I do care about and do care that other CAG's that I may do trades with or sell things to will respect. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere. And I resent the fact that you are so quick to pass judgement on someone you don't even know.

No, when people do this, they do it as a self inflicted humilation and a more often that not it is a sincere act. Usually, these types of posts are associated with one or more PMs. If I ever step to far over the line and regret what I said, I send a PM or two apologizing to the people and then a public post like this voicing my regret.

This is a great gesture on your part. With all the flamming that goes on here its nice to see something like this once in a while. But my suggestion to you is to change the title of this thread to make sure deadzone see's this. As of now its kind of vague and probably won't attract her attention.

You think that whenever someone curses that they are stupid and don't have a vocabulary. This is true for alot of ppl, but I've posted against you many times without foul language. And you're accusing me of having bad humor and no wit? Next time you think this, just go on over to the "Does Yu-Gi-Oh Have Rules?" thread.

Yes. I know. Of course, I'm no so foolish to suggest that I am not part of the problem, but as soon as E3 rolls around or there are a few more valid deals, I'll be happy to deal with those more interesting topics.

I wonder what the DS will actually look like, and exactly when Sony plans to have the US launch of the PSP.

My intent is to personally evaluate other members to see which ones I can associate with on a serious level, a not so serious level or not at all. I think a lot of members here can relate. As time passes I know my efforts will not be in vain. I'm just looking for aquaintences that will help float my boat while I'm here.

I forgot to give some recogniton to snotknocker for being the bigger man here. It's good to see someone do that. It would be nice to see jimmiemac do that too seeing as how he did even worse, but him being a bit of an asshole that he is I don't think we will see that. It's a shame really, I occassionally like his humor when it isn't so cheap and twisted.

Thanks but it was really not my intention to be "the bigger man" I don't want to come off like I'm better than anybody else. I got my own demons my own thoughts and my own demeanor. I got to look in the mirror and deal with who's looking back. I am an idividual. When you say "It would be nice to see jimmiemac do that too seeing as how he did even worse" I kind of feel like your throwing me in some kind of category with this guy which is in part the reason I made this an open apology. I would prefer that other CAG's base their opinions of me on what I truly am and not for some stupid posts I made in association with jimmiemacs verbal diarrea.
I really think that If you change the way you look at things the things you look at will change.

I know I already said I saw this thread wrong, but this (above post) is what I was trying to get across. But I don't think the flame fight between me and Sweeney was caused my this thread, it was probably heat coming off the "Does Yu-Gi-Oh Have Rules?" thread. If he's willing to stop, I will as well. But I'm sure it'll continue on another thread sometime in the future.

OK, Thanks a lot snotknocker. I just read this thread because like I had said before my mom turned off the internet. Well I want to thank you for being the bigger man in this, I didn't even know that you had encouraged the fire between me and JM and then had laughed hysterically. While a bit disturbing, you did say you were sorry, so I forgive you. Actually, I wasn't even really that mad at you in the first place. It's really JM that I was mad at about. Not only because he called me such a filthy thing (and yes, I'm 14) but because he did it so maliciously and intended to get a negative reaction out of me. And to think, he's 20, 30 something years old? I was trying to be the better person and not verbally abuse him back because it would have been immature of me to degrade myself down to his level, and no matter how much i was provoked I refused to do this. I had not spurred anything in between this, which is why I was so initially (and still somewhat am) hurt/angry. But, I suppose I'll never get an apology from jimmiemac, because he's a something-i-don't-want-to-say.
In all thoughts, I appreciate what you were trying to do and apologize.
