Ok, i don't think this would be pirating but heres the thing. Ok, my borther's going to college soon and pretty much we all bought some season dvds together. Well now the thing is, if he moves someones gotta take them. My other borther has the original(which i cannot get cause hes away) and my bro DVD-R backups. Is it possible to make copies of a DVD-R(works on my comp already) onto another DVD-R. O and all i have is a cd burner. Is it impossible to do anything.

Might want to get your college bound borther to come over and write up a coherent description of what you just said.
Make sure its not the other borther, or we might not understand it.
It sounds like piracy but I cannot be sure since I am not familar with this dialect.

You can copy them, but to copy it to a DVD-R or DVD+R you will need some type of DVD burner. If you don't feel like buying one right now, you can rip the content off of either the original DVD or the DVD-R and save it to someone's harddrive, at least they will be able to watch it on their computer if nothing else. To take the data off the DVD, use a program called DVD Extractor. It's free (meant to be free, so its not pirating to download it), just google it and download it from some place. It's not pirating at all, especially since you own the original of the DVD's.
EDIT: I'd recommend just buying a DVD burner for your computer, it seems like you would get a lot of use out of it. One of the best ones out there is actually one of the very cheapest too, just go to newegg and look up the NEC 3500, or 3540 or whatever version it is now. It's only like $40 and burns everything out there, DL, 16x, etc.

Yeap, it's illegal..
But if you already have something on a DVD-R, then you should be able to do a direct copy of a disc...

No matter how many people chip in to buy the media, you are only allowed one original, and ONE backup per original. So, if you pay for it 100% or you and 10,000 people chip in a penny, you only get ONE back up for ALL of you.
Making a copy of the copy is obviously illegal as you violate the 1:1 rule. Im guessing the split of your backups is illegal too as the original owner/purchaser (and dont say all that chipped in. Its JUST the person deemed the buyer at the store) is the only one whos allowed to have the backup.
So, basically, what you are already doing is illegal most likely and what you want to do is DEFINATELY illegal. Man up and buy your own copy or make an equitable split between you and your brothers of what you all have.
However, if you or your brothers collectively own THIS dvd, please make as many copies of it as you like. All of us here will gladly turn a blind eye to you.
