I just love how the hoax is started by one guy saying that the game does all this stuff, but the "debunking" is just a webpage saying "No arcade game called Polybius induced amnesia, caused gamers to wake up screaming in the middle of the night, or attracted the attention of mysterious "men in black" who periodically came to "collect records" from Portland-area machines." I think I'll just cease believing that a game named Polybius ever existed in the first place, and save my brain the processor cycles it would take to decide which group of morons to believe as to whether or not the game caused this weird crap to happen. :P

Snopes is somewhat of an authority on debunking Urban legends. While the write up on Polybius was rather short, I'd take thier word over the internet junkies that are propagating a joke.

An application of Ockham's Razor would more likely that not bear out my hypothesis over yours.

Ah, but an application of MY DUCT TAPE would silence your hypothesis completely. :P

Seriously, though, I didn't make a hypothesis one way or the other. Neither side has produced testimony by anyone with any real authority, nor has either side produced any facts at all...merely opinions, however educated they may sound.

Uh, if it helps your debunking argument at all, the file given in the links above as the rom for Polybius just displays a single screen, and then it says that it was an April Fool's joke. I wondered why I'd never heard of this before.

Two things I noticed...

1.) No one has bid yet. Maybe people aren't quite as stupid as I tend to think they are. :)
2.) The shipping is 37 cents. I found that funny, for some reason. :D
