Any fan of the Shenmue story can tell you that AM2 has unfinished business. Just when there was hope for the story to continue, it was abolished in May.

here's a link to a reliable website with the full story:

I bought both Shenmue 1 & 2 but have yet to really get into either. Although the tale is visionary and epic, I don't think the sales have been great enough to support the series through to the end.

tis true. i was at least hopin' they'd come out with a BETA test.

but i also think if they went the route of Guild Wars, and made the game playable w/ out a subscription fee it'd get the respect it deserves.

I predicted this would happen the day this game was announced, and I couldn't be happier, if it has, indeed, been axed.

Shenmue is supposed to be the story of this one guy's journey. It's supposed to be the story of Ryo and the few people he meets on the way, not some huge epic thing involving thousands of people. If there was ever a game that didn't make sense to be turned into an MMORPG, it was Shenmue.

Thank god if it really has been canned. I think this was the best thing that could have happened, regarding this game, aside from it never having existed to begin with. Maybe now they can focus on Shenmue III.

I see it in the opposite way. Right now, Sega has a very slim chance of making a Shenmue 3 due to poor sales on the DC and Xbox. If this game had come out and enough people were interested in it, then maybe Sega would consider letting Suzuki finish his series.

i believe the game was to allow you to get the full Shenmue experience by interacting with the characters. i mean so many times i've wanted to bitch-smack Ryo for not getting it on with Joy. but now, that'll never happen.

although, you do have a good point. the shenmue series is a linear adventure, not an open-ended-pingedout-xp-grinding adventure.
