i just push my spacebar, or any other key for that matter, to get my computer back from stand-bye mode. It was defaulted that way.

I don't know about stand-by but in certain motherboards they allow you to turn on the computer itself using any key or a combo key (like control-u or something). You gotta go into the BIOS and change it there.
