I'm currently looking for a notebook computer and was wondering if anyone has stumbled on any deals that sound good? Also, I'm kind of in a hurry to get one so does this Circuit City deal sound good?

I know there are cheaper, but this seems like a decent deal. Also, is Circuit City decent when it comes to sending out rebates?

Also, they are currently offering this router and printer for free. Does this router seem like it would be good for games?

I don't know much about this subject but I will bump it for you since I have a relative in the same boat. My cousin is in search of a good notebook also.

Its a decent laptop at a decent price. CC is good about rebates. The router will work for gaming (xbox , ps2 etc)

Seems perfect for what I'm personally looking for in a laptop.

I'll have to consider this one for sure.

My sister has the same exact one, it's pretty decent. The screen is nice for watching movies, and the Turion isn't bad at all. The only bad thing about it is the built-in software that you'll have to install yourself. It's a good deal.

It's a good deal, and the specs are decent, but I wouldn't touch Compaq with a 10-foot pole.

Free upgrades on the Inspiration 2200. Not sure about the quality of it but it sounds like a good price to me. (ripped from gotapex)

fugazi,

What do you mean about the software? Do you mean that I'll have to install the software they provide myself? The less software on the computer to start the better as my current one was cluttered when I first got it.

Cappy,

I've been checking out those deals a lot and trying to price things. The specs seem fairly similar to what Circuit City is offering for about the same price.

Maverick CRV,

Have you had problems with Compaq? You know of anywhere I could read about complaints. I've heard a few people say bad things, though some have talked about them improving recently.

I too am looking for a decent laptop. I am currently going into my 2nd yr of college and have been living at home while doing my classes. This is only a 2 year college so I will be moving out next year and would like something to take with me. This way I could just leave my regular computer at home so when I'm back to visit I would just use it.

yesterday I had a killer deal with the 600m, it was all decked out for $1050 shipped with the $600 off coupon, but then they dont let you select the lower warranties anymore so its like 200$ more now. It really sucks because I had it in my cart and was going to order it today, i go on to do it and when I try to click on it it dissapears from the cart and I cant reconfigure it to be the same. So now I am going to wait a month or so to get one, hopefully dell has the good coupons again, I dont know how ifthen they have them.

Compaq's now owned by HP. They're not nearly as shady as they were a few years back.
