Hello all,
I am looking into networking my house wired or wireless
My only concern right now is price and reliability
I want to get 2 computer and my ps2 hooked up to the internet
I have cable internet and would like some help
all my pc's have ethernet cards and i am thinking a wired network would be easiest/cheapest.

So, i have found this at circuit city:
http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/47262/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

It is a switch from linksys and i am thinking ill grab that and wire my stuff to it and call it a day.
I am open to suggestions on what would better suit my needs or security suggestions or anything like that.
or even better deals :-D

thanks for reading

If you're going to tie multiple machines into the same internet connection, you really want a router, not just a switch. Home routers these days contain a router plus a built in switch of maybe 4 or 5 ports.

If you don't require wireless and price is the main concern, just get a wired router, although 802.11B wireless+wired routers are pretty cheap these days, even the Linksys one. Even if you don't use the wireless right off, they work just fine as wired routers.

Seriously? Check out this Dlink 4-port wired router from Best Buy.

D-Link Express EtherNetwork 4-Port Cable/DSL Router (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=4634168&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01029&id=1051384473833)

It's $49.99 with $45 in mail-in-rebates. And I literally just bought this last week to replace a previous Dlink router that lasted me over 9 years.

Not bad for $5 after rebate.

Damn you lost out on that one. It was last week's sale.

You could go for this at $60 - $40 MIR:

D-Link AirPlus G 802.11g Wireless Router (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6227683&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01029&id=1069299971409)

And give yourself the option of wired or wireless. Not as good a deal.. but not bad either. It would come out to $20 after rebate.
