Which console has the best vibrator.

I love the mammoth vibrations that the DC controller has with the rumble thingy. When it goes full blast in some loud scenes... I'm in euphoria.

The XBox and PS2 controllers aren't nearly as good. Those are the only other consoles I've played with vibrators.

Please recommend some good vibrating controllers for me.

The Rez trance vibrator for the PS2 wins hands down. It's an extra usb peripheral that does nothing BUT vibrate. You play Rez (or the handful of other us games that support it) and it throbs in time to the rhythm in the game...or whatnot. Unavailable in the US, it works fine on a US system...and will run you about $30 to import. Slightly larger than a computer mouse, and shaped similarly, it will indeed vibrate just about whatever you wish to vibrate! ;)

Hmm. Force feedback really has fallen by the wayside...
I'm guess that it has more to do with the inclusion of wireless controllers than anything else.
I'd guess the draw that the motors in the force-feedback elements is too much for a controller that you want to run off of batteries, as it would drain them too quickly, whereas as wired controller has full access to all the power it needs directly from the system.

That's likley due to a lack of practice.
Shooters are some of the most relaxing games around, as they stand in stark contrast to the RPG.

If I play an RPG, I'm involved with the game until the end (40+ hours), and to feel like any progress is made, you must play at least 20 minutes to a half hour.

I can pop in a shooter, blow stuff up for 15 minutes or so, and be done.

There's places for both, and to give up so easily on an entire genre stops you from being able to play a bunch of very fun, well designed and developed games.

Perhaps you misunderstand the terminology.

I use shooters in the "old school" top down or side scrolling, Gradius style games...
not the FPS and third person shooters that are so in vogue right now.

Tennis isn't that bad, but I much prefer the less realistic entries in the genre, such as the Mario or Outlaw style games.

Because, the implementation of the force feedback system can put a different spin on the game, though perhaps a minor one... that can be seen simply by turning the fuctionality off or not putting the rumble pack in the N64 controller.

What's the point of comparing them? That varies.
Some people may think of it in a purely sexual context. Other may consider exactly how the force feedback alters the experience, be it a detriment or an enhancement. I mean, there were some Dreamcast games where I would turn the force feedback off, because the rumble on those thing could be particulary intense at times... there are many times where you're just playing that you don't want the thing rumbling and buzzing in your hand like an active pager.

While the intent of the thread orginally is fairly obvious, and the track it has taken is definately related, it's not as if there isn't an actual viable topic under all of it.

Actually there were quite a few games that I preferred playing more on the Dreamcast with the rumble off, or with the Dual shock or Gamecube controller, as the more intense force feedback on the DC controller begins to grate after a while
