Any one know of any place online that I can find them? I have only been able to find them on ebay and amazon used or new from 60-100 bucks. It almost seems as though they have been discontinued because every place is sould out.

Didn't realize these were becoming increasingly rare-

have you checked out what stores dvdpricesearch.com lists?

No, I didn't know they were becoming rare. I saw the set at Best Buy a few months ago only didn't have the cash to get any of them. Now I can't find any of them unless they are used or going for almost 100 bucks. If I would have known this would have happend I would have bought them when I had the chance.

There is a string of regional cd, movie, and video game store in the midwest called CD Tradepost. They run a site called www.cdtradepost.com it is a legit website where you can search each store's inventory for a particular item and for $3.00 shipping you can call up any of the stores and they will promptly mail you the item. Currently there is a Transformers: Season 1 in the West Wichita store (West Wichita 556 N. Ridge Rd. - Wichita, KS 316-942-7223 M-Sa: 10a-9p, Su: 12p-6p ) for $23.99. Call them up, inquire about the item's condition, then give them your address, email address, CC#, etc. to place the order. To find the number for any other stores, or to verify the above number, click on "Contact Us."

they have been discontinued for now, I believe Rhino lost the rights to them so they are pretty much selling whatever they have in stock, fear not someone else has the rights and I am sure they plan to make as much money as possible from them

They have been discountined, like someone mentioned your best bet is probably searching around used DVD shops also sometimes B&M places like Best Buy may still have a copy or two leftover.

They will surely be re-released by the new publisher when the Live action Transformer movie hits the theaters. There is no reason to pay up for these sets on the after-market.

Dammit, I didn't know all this! I also would have purchased them when I had the chance. I knew DDD didn't have much of a selection, but I didn't know it was this bad. I only have the first season. Dammit, when I get older and have kids, what are they going to watch Saturday mornings?!? Cause I'm sure as hell not letting them watch the crap that's on now.

Anyone who wants the episodes, but doesn't care about them being too official can always go with a set of DVDs like this on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/TRANSFORMERS-20th-Anniversary-25-DVD-98-Epi-BOX-SET_W0QQitemZ6426707539QQcategoryZ617QQrdZ1QQcmdZV iewItem

They're about $50 total for all 98 episodes, in a nice package, they're licensed for China, so they might not be up to snuff to the collector types, but it's a good alternative to paying $300-$400 for all the overpriced 1/2 season boxed sets.

Oh, and if anyone is REALLY cheap, and wants all 98 episodes on 10 CD-roms in AVI format, just for the heck of watching them (at a good resolution if watched at about 1/3 screen-size), PM me. I used to sell them on eBay before all the seasons were on DVD.

Well speaking in a continuity sense then yes Beast Wars takes place first. The reason is that the transformers in Beast Wars while being descendents of the original transformers actually go back in time to before the original Transformers awaken on Earth. Its really kind of interesting how they interwove the 2 together and is mostly covered in Season 3 of Beast Wars.

Continuing on, Beast Machines (the successor to Beast Wars) actually takes place AFTER the original Transformers, if I remember correctly.

All I know is that computer generated transformers is where its at.

I actually found the Go Bots movie a while ago for like $2. I'm not sure what I did with it though, never did get around to watching it. Sure it was a cheap knockoff but it did have its own personality.

I have the ENTIRE set Rhino released! I bought each set on the release date...I made sure I had money set aside whenever a release date was set by Rhino. Most I ordered through DDD.com and they usually ran me the lesser side of $30.

Kinda glad I have them now....I had no idea they were discontinued in any way.

Now I'm wondering if I can still buy that Transformers Armada set. Could got it for $22 at the last DDD.com sale. :(

You'd still be partially wrong, as part of the events in More than Meets the Eyes Part 1 has to occur, or the G1 bots wouldn't be on Earth.

But yes, Beast Wars occurs between the events in part of More than Meets the Eyes, part one, and the remainder of that episode and the rest of the series.

But technically, events from G1 still has to happen first for the continuity to make any sense.

Just sold a complete sealed all 5 boxsets on ebay couple weeks ago for over $300 for all 5. One set even hit over $80 by itself. And I got all 5 free from a Contest I won. I already had all 5 sealed so I sold this 2nd collection. I posted my auctions in a new thread 2 weeks ago you missed it. You have no idea how many emails I got asking if I had any more.

You right, I should have clarified that Beast Wars takes place between the minute in G1 where they are stuck in the volcano. So basically G1 STARTS before Beast Wars but the bulk of the show takes place AFTER Beast Wars. Don't you love the confusion that get result from time travel?

Either way, Beast Wars, IMO is the better of the 2 shows because it has higher production values and something resembling an overarching storyline.

Not sure if you'd heard this, but Rhino won't be releasing any more GI Joe. Their license expired, along with the license for Transformers and Jem. Apparently, Sony Music now holds the rights and will reissue these titles at a later date. Here's a full story on it.

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3359

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I hope they reissue them soon. I only got the first season and a half of Transformers, and now I can hardly ever find the rest.

Beast Wars was great, it had very good character development, plus the computer animation made some slick looking characters.

M.A.S.K. Mobile Armored Strike Command (anyone remember the full wordage for V.E.N.O.M.?) was THE toy for me. Boulder Hill was the coolest base ever. Kids: imagine how the Batmobile armors up, but do it to an entire mountainside gas station!

I remember the last thing I bought was the robot and kid combo pack...I was so happy they finally released it, until I opened up the package and started to realize the lameness (now I know it was "the gayness") of a boy riding his robot friend.

Did any of you who prefer Beast Wars to G1 grow up with G1? I can't believe anyone who grew up with G1 thinks Beast Wars was better. I only caught maybe half of Beast Wars episodes (and that only because it was a Transformers continuity) and I know intellectually that Beast Wars was a better show, but there's no way I could enjoy a TV show more than I enjoyed G1 Transformers as a kid.

Trust me, guys in their mid-to-late 20s can all still sing the More than Meets the Eye theme song and get misty-eyed over the fate of Optimus Prime from the movie.

So I'm wondering, will we EVER see an official release of Beast Machines? I would think whichever company that has the rights now will sooner release the G1 seasons again, then Beast Machines...what with the movie coming out and all.

Well, I am 20, and I never really watched much G1 Transformers as a kid. (My older brother watched it all the time though) That being said, I watched Beast Wars when it was on, which is probably why I like that series better. I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head with your post.

And the complete Robots In Disguise (http://play.com/play247.asp?pa=sr&page=title&r=R2&title=601749) is also due out in September

The Metrodome releases are (I believe Region 0) and the RiD is Region 2, but both are PAL.

I'm 32. I watched all the G1 shows when they were broadcast. I think I was the only person in the theatre when I saw the movie. And I caught Beast Wars during its repeats.

I think Beast Wars is a better show. G1 is better nostalgia.

I don't want to own or rewatch any of the G1 stuff. I have good memories of it, and I'd prefer to keep those. Even with the fond recollections, I remember that the plots and dialogue were often awful or stupid. The animation wasn't that great either. It was cool because they were Transformers, and it was the first time this story was being told, and because it was infinitely better than the Gobot show. (But then, what wasn't?)

I do want to get Beast Wars on DVD. Partly because the CGI is amazing and worth rewatching. But also because the show had a brain. It wasn't perfect, but it did try to be more than kids' advertainment. It reached much farther than most kids' shows, with an ongoing plot and actual character growth, and managed to succeed more often than it missed.

Of course it will never compare to G1. The G1 show, with all of its faults, showed us things we'd never seen, and will never forget. It's the beginning of the entire Transformers mythos. There's obviously something substantial there, because 25 years later you can still buy Optimus Prime in toy stores. That's not just nostalgia.

The strength of the G1 show was that it brought all of the ideas and concepts of the Transformers myth to life in a visual way. It made the toys alive. Nothing can beat that, no matter how brainy or full of CGI.

For me, though, I doubt I would ever get the same kind of enjoyment out of the G1 show that I did when I was a kid. I don't want to mess with what I've already got. And it won't be the same, because I'm not the same person.

Beast Wars is Transformers like me -- sorta grown up. It's also not a replacement, but a continuation. An evolution with respect for the past.

Now, excuse me while I go cue that theme music.

Yeah, when I saw an episode or two of G1 repeats on Sci-Fi a few years ago, I was surprised by how bad it seemed. G1 Transformers is more cultural event than entertainment. I remember in college, Transformers somehow came up, and every single male on the dorm floor who didn't live abroad could remember the theme song. Later, we watched Transformers the Movie and wondered why it wasn't as good as we remembered.

I think Transformers was so singular in importance for our age group because we didn't have all the other entertainment that kids these days have. We had Ataris and afternoon cartoons on local tv and action figures. No internet, no multiple game platforms, etc.

I picked up one of the G1 seasons on DVD and never opened it, for much the same reason in not wanting to disturb what I remember of it.

I did however pick up the 25th anniversary Optimus Prime figure. If I had that thing when I was a kid, I would've played with it until I lost all its accessories and broken two or three limbs instead of having it just stand guard over my DVDs and games.

Watched G1 growing up and yes I prefer Beast Wars, much more interesting characters and story elements then the simple good versus evil that pretty much dominated the plot of G1. Beast Wars reminded me that these were sentinent machines, not just drones that fight on whatever side they happened to be programmed for, they can switch or make other choices entirely. G1 only touched upon that once when Blitzwing turned on Galvatron because he wanted to do the right thing. That among other things just made the series a favorite of mine. Too bad Beast Machines shot all that to hell
